 Re: Golden Globe Noms (CANCELLED)
So pretty much our show is going to be from 7PM-10PM, spread out over different NBC networks? I don't even know if I get NBC News...

 Re: Golden Globe Noms (CANCELLED)
Well now that I've actually read the source website (always a good step), I guess it is all going to be on NBC, during the time that was originally alloted for the regular show. Right?

I actually kind of prefer this to the regular Golden Globe ceremony. All the winners will be announced in an hour and I believe the winners will be able to accept their awards.

hopefully never. The Oscars will probably fight harder to stay alive since like twice as much money is made from them.

 Re: Golden Globe Noms (CANCELLED)
Today, the WGA just signed another agreement, this time with United Artists (Paul Wagner + Tom Cruise), which adds to their agreement they made with Letterman's company Worldwide Pants. As companies start breaking out and making independent deals with the WGA, is it any question who is at fault here? Nick Counter, the president of AMPTP, is a moron, and production companies are starting to break away from him, thank heavens. Writers are starting to go back to work with fair deals, and I'm loving it.
Hopefully the AMPTP won't cause the Oscars to be cancelled too. Although I must say I love this format for the Globes. It wasn't really cancelled, just truncated, into a nice format where the awards are given out to stars within an hour.
Peace, Mike

Yeah, I was actually talking to a friend about this, and we agreed that if done correctly this will actually be better than the regular Globes show.

I don't care if the Oscars gets canceled but I usually like watching the Globes. It feels more like Hollywood. So it's kind of a shame.

 Re: Golden Globe Noms (CANCELLED)
The Oscars are by far my favorite thing to watch on television each year. If they cancel it, I'll be a lot more disappointed than those of you who always watch TV.

 Re: Golden Globe Noms (CANCELLED)
Yeah, I'm really only concerned about the Oscars. This could be more interesting in any event. I'll miss the glitz, but this could work out well.
Besides, we've got the cl-assy BFCA show right now, huh?

The Globes....bah, I can live without them.
If the Oscars get cancelled I will loose all sympathy for the writers. The Oscars just can't get cancelled, it's wrong. I hate this damn strike.

 Re: Golden Globe Noms (CANCELLED)
Seeing the Oscars get cancelled would be worse than no World Series- and seeing as I'm a huge supporter of a team that never even gets to the fucking playoffs, let alone the World Series, that's saying a lot.

The Oscars are by far the biggest/most important entertainment event of the year for me! They just cannot get cancelled!

 Re: Golden Globe Noms (CANCELLED)
I thought the Globes had had the possibility of being aired on cable instead of network tele but I guess that failed. I can't imagine this strike lasting to the Oscars but since the Oscars take place so much sooner now...hhmm. There should be some extra planning ahead just in case these writers can't compromise in time.

 Re: Golden Globe Noms (CANCELLED)
I absolutely love the fact that the actors are boycotting an event where the entire night is devoted to these people getting their ass kissed. Dr. Lecter wrote: By now, I have zero sympathy with the writers. I know, their cause is a good one, but I just can't help, but see my personal losses above their problems. I hate them, hate the greedy studios and hopefully by the end of this, both will have lost more than gained. I agree. For me personally this went from agreeing with them, to being a nuisance, to just complete indifference for everyone involved. And frankly at this point I just don't care if the Oscars are cancelled. I'd rather have them not cancelled, but I wouldn't miss them.

 Re: Golden Globe Noms (CANCELLED)
Sounds more like they've been neutered than cancelled.
I wonder how boring an hour-long trophy hand out session will actually be. I assume they won't be making any speeches and there won't be any frills.
I think we can all agree that the real victim here is the Miss Golden Globe herself - Rumer Willis. I imagine she saw this as her big coming out party, her first chance to be seen amongst her peers at one of the glitziest events in showbiz. Now she's been relegated to standing at the side of a press conference pulpit, grimly smiling while the president of the HFPCA stoically and hurriedly hands out awards.

Honestly, that's the best thing for both her and the rest of America.

I don't see how that matters if nobody is there, except studio and producers. I know they won't show the pickets on NBC.

That should be particularly interesting if Spielberg's Chicago 7 film gets him nominated there (Which I could see).
