http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratatouille_(film)#Top_ten_lists Looking at the data, it seems WALL-E is in an entirely different position than Ratatouille was this time last year.

I don't know how to feel. Wall-E's looking great but the Slumdog/Milk/TDK/Button/Frost 5some isn't really letting up. Right now I'm guessing TDK or Button miss BP and replace Stanton in director.

Do they really want to waste a nomination on something that's just there and not really winning anything?

They had no problem saying how great Ratatouille was last year and several even listed it towards the top of their year-end lists. BUT When it came around to critic circles, it was all Best Animated Feature. WALL-E has had no problem thus far winning Best Picture. Boston showed that LAFCC was no fluke.

Re: WALL-E Will Be Nominated For Best Picture Club
I doubt both TDK and Wall-E get nominated. I think it will be one of them.
Before these precursors I would've pick TDK to be the one - now I think Wall-E has it. Too bad about GG rules - the best comedy nom/win would show a bigger support for Wall-E then expected IMO.

It's easy to say that but its extremely rare for a film to get PGA/DGA/WGA/SAG noms (which TDK is poised to do) and not get a BP nom. And that's before you're taking into account the critical response and half a billion domestic/billion international box office tally. Stat monkeys are bound to swoop in at any moment but I would not like to bet against those odds. I think its becoming clearer and clearer with each passing day that both films make it. I would say the 5th spot is now between Curious Case and Frost/Nixon.

I'm guessing Stanton is more likely to get in there than the Oscars, considering it's matched better with BP than BD for a while and the director's branch may have more respect for the job of an animation director than the more oblivious AMPA branch. They also love Ron Howard. So Boyle/Van Sant/Howard/Fincher/Stanton wouldn't surprise me if hypothetically TDK was to miss at the Oscars.

I see Nolan getting DGA recognition before Stanton.
