I wasn't counting Foxx as two different blacks.

Cheadle, Foxx, Freeman, Sophie.

It would never happen.

A movie about Hitler is nominated, so we are all happy :)

A Very Long Engagement, The Chorus, The Sea Inside, Maria Full of Grace, House of Flying Daggers, and The Motorcycle Diaries...all foreign ffilms getting nominations outside of best foreign film. Really happy about that :)

Wow, The Passion got nominated for Cinematography and Original Score!!
That's awesome.

The rest of the nominees are good. Alan Alda was a surprise. Happy to see Imelda Staunton, Natalie Portman, Clive Owen, and Cate Blanchett getting noms.

I think Freeman and Swank's chances are boosted 100% by the fact that Million Dollar Baby did SO WELL in the top categories.

I mean, Million did FANTASTIC.

Expected a couple of more for Sideways. Collateral is snubbed in a number of technical categories too.

Collateral's snub in the technical categories is a shame.

The lack of Collateral's cinematography nod is an absolute travesty. The biggest travesty this year.

Don't forget Sound and Sound Editing. Mann deserved a directing nod as well...

Germans don't like Ray because they have no concept of "love".

The more I look at the technical nominees, the more random I feel they are. Phantom is nominated in 3 categories, but not costume. Everything is in the wrong category.

I'm calling Morgan to win Best Supporting Actor. It will be a passing of the torch sort of speak. Morgan, whose career goes back to working on soaps before any of us were born. Then Jamie will win, a new school black actor.

It's typical of a year where there are no really stand out frontrunners.

Even to some extent, The Aviator suffers from that too (Make up, Sound Editing, Visual Effects?).

I just think people are very meh about almost all the movies this year, as contrasted to last year where the techs were falling over themselves to prop up ROTK, Master and Commander and Pirates.

I agree.

I think Million will win S. Actor, Actress and has a great shot at Best Picture still. Perhaps the only movie with a shot other than The Aviator.

IMO, It's hurting Annette Benning that her role is turning out to be looked at as "being nominated because she is owed one even though Swank is really the one who deserves it".

Okay, the biggest chaos is over, I'm going to edit the noms in the first post, so they lok more properly

And I owe an apology to andaroo for being so persistant about Hotel Rwanda. I was wrong, the less deserving Ray was, indeed, nominted over HR. ;)

I'm glad that they don't just nominate all best picture nominees in tech categories, but I'm mad that they are putting everything in the wrong category.

Why would you apologize?

Have you seen some of my other predictions this year? ;)

Weak catergory for Best Animated film. Suprising that The Polar Express was not even nominated, yet Shark Tale was. Obviously a lock for The Incredibles (I don't see it going to the sequel of a film that already won an Oscar)

Here's another bold prediction: With everyone concentrating on the re-match between Bening and Swank in best actress, I see Imelda Staunton walk away with the trophy!

OH AND CLINT EASTWOOD IS THE MAN, best director and best actor?

How did Tupac: Resurrection get nominated? It was released in November 2003 and was out of theaters by 12/19/2003?

Have you seen the trailer? It looks really good. I'll be seeing it as soon as I can (probably DVD).

I'd rather it go to Kate Winslet personally.
