That didn't even ocurr to me until now.
That you mentioned it
Kate was more dserving of the Oscar than Helen in '98. If she doesn't win the Oscar this year, though, which she probably won't, and is she were also nominated for Neverland and Sunshine, that would put her like,on Julianne Moore territory. But better *ducks from Moore fans*
She's only 30 years old, right? That means she's still got a decade or so where she will be in her prime.
I mean, if you look at the actresses that win this thing, they're usually in the their mid-30s (Charlize is in her 20s, right? But that was so far above the other performances).
And you're right, she deserved the 1998 Oscar. Leo deserved at least a nomination. I mean, the biggest film of all time didn't bloody support itself on nothing! It rested on their performances more than anything else (ok, Cameron's direction too \:D/ ).

I just checked their site, and it says the show is live from 8-11pm:

I think the 7pm thing is carpet arrivals, etc.

I was trying not to compare the Julianne and Kate that was just personal opinion, because I've noticed recently that Julianne Moore is usually stuck playing similar roles...the unsatisfied house wife, and that's when she's good. It might jsut be a coincidence, and yes she's had not one, but two of the best female performances in the last decade (Boogie Nights and Far From Heaven) and nothing's gonna chance that.
Kate is great in everything she's in.
I just meant they were two of the best actresses working out there, a handful of Oscar nominations, but no wins. Kate could have 5 nominations at 30. How many actors have accomplished that?

Just grabbed this nugget from http://www.Oscarwatch.com
Can M$B Win Without a Screenplay Nod?
Going back to the early 60's only two films have won the Globe (DRAMA) without landing a screenplay nod: Return of the King and Gladiator. So, was it that not enough of them saw it or not enough of them liked it? Here are the screenplay contenders:
Eternal Sunshine The Aviator Finding Neverland Closer Sideways
Two are from the comedy side, the rest are all nommed for BP in the drama category. You have to wonder why the film failed to make screenplay - after all, it was a good screenplay and even won the USC Scripter recently. If M$B wins tonight, it will be the first non-epic to ever win the Globe without a screenplay nod (mitigating factors: the date change, the screener debacle). Doesn't it make far more likely that the winner will be Finding Neverland or The Aviator?
