 Re: Best Picture 2012
25th Hour is momentous and deserved more celebration than it received at the time, but I definitely prefer Tarantino to him in general.

 Re: Best Picture 2012
I read Roger Ebert's review of ZDT on his blog, he gave it 3 stars but it reads like a negative review, you get the sense that he gave it a positive rating because he didn't seem to be in the minority.

It's either Lincoln's year or Argo's year. I can't see anything else taking off.

Life of Pi could do. They all surprised you with Crash. Could happen again.

Still hoping and praying Zero Dark Thirty wins this. It's superior to Lincoln in just about every way.

 Re: Best Picture 2012
Lincoln is winning. I think the liberal academy voters will not vote for Zero Dark Thirty. The whole torture thing is turning them off, especially with the stink the Obama administration is making over the movie.

 Re: Best Picture 2012
It's such a superior film to Lincoln that it isn't even funny. And I only see momentum building over the next few weeks once it goes wide.

I think it's Lincoln vs Argo. ZDT is clearly the critic's/not AMPAs BP film

I agree, but thinking back, a lot of people still kept doubting The Departed until the very end (after Little Miss Sunshine won PGA and SAG Ensemble).

Life of Pi winning would not be as big of a shock as Crash. It's an exception, sure, but it can happen again.

 Re: Best Picture 2012
It would be a bigger surprise and would show a heavy religious faction in the academy that we've seen no proof of. Crash also won over a very weak crop of films. Munich was the only great movie of the bunch, with Good Night and Good Luck being the only other one I enjoyed. I know people here love Brokeback for one reason or another, but let's be frank, the editing in that movie was atrocious. The only way to tell time had passed was by Anne Hathaway's haircuts. That's why it missed an editing nomination and that is why it lost BP.

No subtle ellipsis for Flava'd vs The World. He needs "FIVE MONTHS AND TWO DAYS LATER" flashing on the screen in garish lettering.

And Jake Gyllenhaal was a whore. They made it seem like those guys beat him to death at the end just because he was a homosexual. What if they were all just victims of his man-eating? Nobody ever talks about that. Is passion not stronger than hate?
