Expected a couple of more for Sideways. Collateral is snubbed in a number of technical categories too.

HOFD deserves it.

Aviator 11
Million Dollar Baby 7
Sideways 5
Paul Giamatti not being nominated for Best Actor IMO rules Sideways out for Best Picture. It is between Aviator and Million Dollar Baby now

I think there's far more racism against blacks in the US itself... :???:

I wasn't counting Foxx as two different blacks.

That's your personal opinion. It deserves a couple of more technical nods, even if you don't like the film as a whole. No costume is simply a crime.

BTW, "The Justice" award for most deserved nod for a film that basically had no good chances at anything is:
Best Score - The Village

I'm happily surprised for Leigh. His films are basically improvised.

Yeah, I'm happy for Vera Drake as well. That brings Imelda back as a legitimate possible best actress winner.

Could the second nomination for Foxx hurt him? If voters are split, Leo might even crawl in...

It doesn't deserve it.
You know what's funny...I had a feeling a foreign language song would be nominated, but I didn't know any songs  I thought maybe the song at the end of Maria full of g?race, but I don't think that was original.
Hehe. and you freaks insisted House of Flying Daggers had a great chance of winning the Oscar... Bu tI won't say anything *ahem* Fahrenheit.
Happy About:
Catalina Sandino Moreno: Oscar likes showy roles...this isn't that kind of role, it's very subtle, but completely deserving of a nomination. Wish Julie Delpy had been nominated as well, but...
Best Screenplay for Before Sunset
Kate Winslet was nominated *phew*
Very happy to see polar express NOT nominated for best animated movie. But wish it had been Spongebob or something else that did.
But
Hmm..no Screenplay nomination for closer!

Don't see it happening at all. I don't think there will be many votes for his Collateral role, especially when another black actor, Freeman, is in the same category. Foxx will win best actor.

Collateral's snub in the technical categories is a shame.

Agreed. A lot of technical snubs piss me off. Not good kind of surprises.
On the other hand, glad to see Before Sunset and Moreno get nominated.
Finding Neverland has 7 nods without best director. So it's indeed just down to The Aviator and Million Dollar Baby.

The lack of Collateral's cinematography nod is an absolute travesty. The biggest travesty this year.
