Did your favorite movie (ever) win/get nominated for BP?
Just something to do. Nominee? Winner? Any other categories? Before the Oscars existed?
Mine: All About Eve - Best Picture Winner, 1950 (not to mention 14 nominations, a record only shared with Titanic)
Sort of unlikely considering most of my other absolute favorites didn't receive a ton of Academy recognition.

Re: Did your favorite movie (ever) win/get nominated for BP?
Edward Scissorhands - nominated for Best Makeup. It lost.
Looking back, I can see why it wasn't nominated for Best Picture (it's an abstract-expressionist fantasy... not an academy fave), but that it didn't even get a nomination for Best Production Design/Costume or (especially) Music is a crime, and just goes to show how bloody wrong the Oscars get it sometimes.
Also, I had no idea Johnny Depp was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance. Although the fact it was for Comedy/Musical kinda detracts from the honour somewhat.

Re: Did your favorite movie (ever) win/get nominated for BP?
I don't have a clear fav. But off my top 5, only one movie got nominated for BP and won (The Silence of the Lambs). Some of my favorites were just lucky to be there for something, like make-up (Edward Scissorhands. ). Some were more close to that Picture nom but got snubbed in the end (Psycho, Aliens, The Truman Show, A Fish Called Wanda, ...). I hope Atonement doesn't join this last list.

Only one film in my top ten even got a Picture nominee, and that was L.A. Confidential, which obviously lost to the behemoth of Titanic.

Re: Did your favorite movie (ever) win/get nominated for BP?
Having a tough time defining an order for my top movies lately, but in general:
American Beauty - yes, win All About Eve - yes, win Zoolander - no, lol Princess Bride - no Moulin Rouge - yes City of God - no, but got BD Eternal Sunshine - no The Usual Suspects - no Mulholland Drive - no Garden State - no Monty Python and the Holy Grail - no South Park: Bigger Longer, and Uncut - no Nightmare Before Christmas - no Groundhog Day - no T2 - no Alien - no Team America - no Being John Malkovich/Blue Velvet/The Ice Storm/Roger Dodger(recent additions I'm scared to rank this high yet, but I'm almost sure they'll be up there eventually) - no Dog Day Afternoon - yes Reservoir Dogs - no
So I start out with a bang then drop off.

Re: Did your favorite movie (ever) win/get nominated for BP?
Mine always changes.
Titanic, Amadeus, All About Eve all won BP while Moulin Rouge, Shawshank, Pulp Fiction, and The Right Stuff were nominated.
some notable also-rans: Blade Runner (2 technical noms) Kill Bill (nada) Planet of the Apes (Costume and Score nominee I believe; Special Award for Makeup?) Batman Begins (Cinematography nod) Harvey (Supporting Actress winner, Lead Actor nominee) Ran (bunch of technical nods, winner for Costumes I believe)

Superman: The Movie
Three nominations, zero wins
Best Film Editing - Stuart Baird Best Music, Original Score - John Williams Best Sound - Gordon K. McCallum, Graham V. Hartstone, Nicolas Le Messurier, Roy Charman
It did however win a special achievement award for visuals effects, which from the looks of it seems to have been before that category was created.
