 Your OUTRAGEOUS OSCAR Predictions
I think Spider-Man 2 Will be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.
I just have this really weird feeling that it will be. It might be that bit fo sickness I still have to recover from; either that, or Fortune herself is telling me something in advance!

Ok, I know it's outlandish, but meh, what are predictions for if not to ruffle up some feathers.

box, you could change the title to "No Gut, No Glory Predictions". I was just going to start such a thread today. Who knows? It could be something we can brag about, such as the folks who predicted City of God last year.

Here's my crazy, yet in a miniscule way, somewhat possible, predictons:
Vera Drake will be nominated for Best Picture.
Either Sideways OR Million Dollar Baby will NOT be nominated for Best Picture.
PEACE, Mike

I think we should all post crazy, but at least somehow possible predictions because so far I don't see a single one that actually could happen, not even my own. Well, with the exception of Revolutions, there is somewhat of a slight chance there.

I don't think it's impossible. It was the most character driven blockbuster in a while. Put me down as thinking it won't happen but it certainly could.
Here's my outrageous predictions:
1- Tom Cruise will get nominated for best supporting actor in Collateral.
2- And Foxx for best actor in that same movie.
3- Dakotah Fanning for best supp actress for Man on Fire.
4- Joan Allen for best supp actress for Bourne Supremacy - there are not a lot of good roles for women and she stood out even though it was a blockbuster type film.
If I remember later, I'll try to draw up my whole ballot and post it in whatever thread we're doing that in this year.

Okay, here are my most insane predictions:
1. Collateral will get nominated for Best Picture
2. Eternal Sunshine won't get nominated for anything
3. Mel Gibson will be nominated for Best Director
4. Der Untergang (Downfall) will win Best Foreign Picture
5. Million Dollar Baby is not going to win anything.

That's not outrageous.
Its buzz will only increase, so if it manages a nomination, it WILL fight it out with the other frontrunners for the win. Winning is more likely than a nomination. (though that's still very possible).
I actually said Spiderman 2 would have at least a decent chance of a nomination, but I was expecting it to be the #1 film of the year at the box office.
Acting nominations for Kirsten Dunst or Rosemary Harris are completely deserving though.
It wont happen.

I agree that Rosemary Harris is nomination worthy in Spiderman 2. I also think Kirsten Dunst in a less competitive year could have been nominated for supporting actress for Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.
My outrageous prediction......Maia Morgenstern is nominated for The Passion Of The Christ.

Against the likes of The Aviator, Sideways and Million Dollar Baby, it is outrageous.

Nope. Sideways stand no chance of winning.

Exactly. Just like Hotel Rwanda. If one of them was about to get the Oscar, though, it'd be Sideways.

P.s., I changed the title of this thread to have it be more inclusive and less box_2005-centered.
