Post Anticipating DGA... (Announced!!!)
Heh, I'm seriously bored, I think. But looking back at last year, I must be even more so then, as like half of the replies are mine.

We haven't had a real DGA surprise since Nolan in 2001. The directors have really played safe in recent years and given us uninspiring choices such as Marc Forster, Taylor Hackford, and Bennett Miller. I'm so hoping they're going to break the mold this year when there are so many outstanding choices.

About 15 more hours...

Here's hoping Cuaron gets in, and Babel finally shows some sign of weakness. I'm predicting Greengrass, Scorsese, Clint (god I hope not twice), a surprise (maybe Del Toro if not Cuaron), and either Condon or Frears... But not both. At least I really hope it's a surprise rather then both of them.

I'm with you though. I am really, really anticipating the DGA. I mean, this is what it all comes down to.

I'm hoping there will be a surprise, otherwise DGA will just be another "meh".

Peace,
Mike.

What time does it announce? I'm wondering if I can get it in before I go to school, heh.

I think there are four pretty set nominees: Scorsese, Eastwood, Frears, Inarritu.

The fifth slot is going to be interesting. Condon will probably get it but I'd love to see Cuaron surprise.
Greengrass is still a possibility but my mind doesn't want to wonder there so it blocks the possibility out

del Toro is the real underdog and considering the intense word of mouth Pan's Labyrinth has received lately, I wouldn't put it past the DGA but I'd be really shocked if he got in.

According to a poster at OW, the NY Times Oscar blogger said DGA members he knows voted for both Eastwood movies to make sure he got in. . .

He's getting double nommed. :nonono: :disgust:

I'd rather see Keenan Ivory Wayans get nomianted for Little Man than Inarritu for friggin Babel.

These were the predictions I posted a few weeks back

Bill Condon, Dreamgirls
Clint Eastwood, Flags of Our Fathers
Clint Eastwood, Letters from Iwo Jima
Stephen Frears, The Queen
Martin Scorsese, The Departed

Trade Condon with Gonzales Inarritu (The CORRECT way to reference his last name, accoridng to a guy at OW), and those are my last-minute predictions.
