Post I feel stupid for liking "Crash" thanks to KJ.
Seriously, I feel incredibly dumb because everyone is basically saying that those who like the film are idiots. Jesus, I'm sorry for enjoying a movie that you couldn't. Terribly sorry. It'd be fine if this was a difference of opinion, but there are quite a few threads here that all convey the same message: Crash sucked, and those who liked it are morons. I feel Crash was a well-made film that completely deserved the Oscar. It was either that or Munich, and I feel Crash deserved it. Jesus. Enough with the Crash threads (yeah wise-ass, I know this is yet another Crash thread).

Why does someone else hating a film make you stupid?

We all get dramatic about films, and suggest liking things make you a moron or stupid, etc.

I'm with you! (Let's take 'em all on!!!! :nerd:)
Why must people become so sour over a well-made movie winning? You don't have to like it, but the outrage and poor response is disappointing me. The movie deserves kudos for earning this award after being released almost a year ago. Although, I do have a feeling the Academy chickened out and didn't want to give BBM the Oscar, Crash deserves it just as much so I have no real problem with the decision.

Because certain comments by people (I can't remember who, there's so many of them) suggest that Crash is inferior and those who like it enjoy an inferior film. I'm not trying to start anything, it just bothered me. I'm tired, and irritable at the moment, so that might explain my sudden urge to point this out.

Ever start making a thread, then stop and realize it's dumb? I probably jumped the guns on this by pressing "Post", but I felt like saying it. :nerd:

But this is what gets me, basically I can't dislike the film but you can like. If I were jumping for joy, and saying it was the best film ever then that's ok. This film is very polarizing, it has been since its release. Its win was bound to illcit tsrong reactiosn form both sides. After it won i full expected to see threads congratulating it and threads detesting it.

If you like the film, then say that back, argue back about its a movie forum were we can discuss things. All I hear, I am sick of the Crash hating, well start talking about how good the film is. When the orginal discussion ont he film started, there was a big thread in Cinemania with thoughts from both sides.

If you dislike a film, you are going ot think its inferior, yes, I think Crash is inferior to pretty much every film I saw on racism, but honestly I want to know why people love this film, because I don't understand.

We've all been called stupid for liking film, I remember saying I liked Bad Boys 2, hell my boyfriend makes funof me for liking it all the time.

Prove them wrong and say you know I liket he film for this reason, if they hate the film for real reasons they'll back them up...if they can't they'll look stupid like you.

I dont know about people being idiots for liking a movie, I dont hear people calling others idiots for enjoying a movie. I thought it was a decent movie thanks to the acting but the message just didnt come across right, im a gullible guy when it comes to some movies and there messages but even I didnt fall for this movies POWERFUL message. If it handled the message in a different way and wasnt so unrealistic and over the top, then I would've been fine with it winning an oscar, but it's not a very strong way to get a message across to people. King Kong is more realistic. Nobody is an idiot for enjoying the movie though.

I can't spellor type, half my sentences are unreadable, I still debate. Just try sometime, practice will make you better at it. And we need more people around here willing to try and intelligent discuss a film, rather then the "You're a moron," "You're a fanboy" comments.

Are you challenged by the English language? We're discussing Crash, not BBM.

Well, Crash won Best Picture. Of course people are going to be talking about it.

With that being said, a lot of KJ members obviously feel that Crash was a very very undeserving winner. There's nothing wrong with them saying it.

Au Contraire.

Unless I am reading this with complete misinterpretation, I think it's ridiculous to say anyone who is a "Crash Basher" automatically seeks to make everyone else seem less intelligent. I don't care for Crash, but everyone on this forum knows I'm not an elitist nor do I try and be condescending. Honestly, unless this is a satire I see it as another silly thread trying to polarize two different groups. Jeez. I see why members drop out here.

Thanks, Ripper. Maybe I'll give it a try from time to time. I'll do my best.

And Shack, of course people can say what they will and discuss the film and its Oscar success. My whole point was that I felt stupid for liking the movie because of KJ, and I was likely misreading a lot of messages on the forum. People can say what they will about anything, I wasn't denying anyone that right. Sorry for the, ehm, miscommunication.

Okay, you're reading too much into my thread, but it's not a joke. I'm not trying to do anything here!! I was just saying something. This is why I don't post as much, and why I hardly make any threads. I'm not trying to polarize anyone!

Thank you, Chris, for actually paying attention around here.

Seriously, I hate Crash, but I didn't want BBM to win either.

I'm not the person to talk about debating, but you can't expect to be decent at it if you don't try. This is the perfect place to do so. And contrary to popular belief, "elitists" like Andaroo and Dolce and Xiayun are extremely receptive to any sort of discussion. If they can tolerate me, they can handle you just fine. If you liked Crash, speak up. You've got a brain - you managed to turn the computer on, after all. Thats more than some people.

That's fine, I understand people can dislike it, and it's very very true most people either love this or hate this. I just don't remember a big outrage when the film was actually nominated, or when it won the other 2 awards, only Best Picture. If BBM had won, we'd have ten threads saying it only won because it was about gay cowboys and it was a popular movie of the moment. I don't really know what my point is because I don't feel too strongly about any of my opinions tonight, I just think it at least deserves respect for winning, even if one doesn't like it, which is fine.

Good, no one is a perfect debater and some are better then others, but we just nee dpeople willing to, and as you debate and read others posts you'll get more ideas on what to say. Often times ina debate someone else will say what I want to say and better, but that helps me to make other points.

Wellt he outrage came whent he film came out, there was a huge debate in Everyone's a Critic and Cinemania about the film, by the time it was nominated, I accept that it was a serious contender and quite frnakly I think alot of us were all taked out about it. We talked it when it came out. I thought this filmw as a total throw away, I can't believe I am still discussing Crash when there is little or no discussion on the films I really loved in 2005. But controversary breeds discussion, so bring it on.

Heh, I know I'm the silly goose more often than not. I was just saying that I personally thought that certain comments that were made by certain people made me feel stupid for liking "Crash", but obviously I misread some people.

I really have no idea what my problem is. One of my favorite 2005 movies was "Saw II". I should be used to criticism for my favorite movies. ;)
