I don't know if Munich will get a Best Picture nom now. Crash seems certain now for a nomination though.

No PGA nom for Munich is SHOCKING!! Even if it didn't win I was sure Munich would get PGA and DGA noms.

Capote is a huge surprise. No Munich a bit of a shock. Crash is geting nominated for BP, methinks...

2005 is not a PGA "curse" year lol. So watch for the winner here to take the Oscar as well.

Unless of course Oscar bucks the trend.

Hmm.. Crash is almost certain for a SAG nod, DGA is very likely as well, so BP is just closeby. Unless it suffers the fate of Greek Wedding (all top guilds except for DGA) - but Crash has more buzz and critical acclaim.

Much to the dismay of most KJ posters, hehe.

I think it will come down to Good Night and Brokeback for the PGA, much like what it's shaping up for the Academy.

Those four are in. I still don't see Capote make it, so it'll be A History of Violence, The Constant Gardener (both got WGA), and Munich fighting for the last spot. DGA will be crucial for all of these films and will tell us a lot.

Capote is the shocker here, Crash's award love was looming on the horizon a few weeks ago so that's not too surprising. I hope Capote doesn't make BP though since, much like Walk the Line, it's an ok film carried by its great performance. Munich is really in trouble, if it misses out on DGA by some fluke of nature tomorrow it's pretty much done, huh? Crazy.

Capote was meh, I thought, other than PSH (and Catherine Keener with solid support, as always).

I think we still have to wait for the DGA (and SAG). The DGA are still historically the best indicator. You can rule one film in these PGA noms out, and even a second could be likely, since PGA has often matched only 3/5.

If the DGA gives Spielberg a DGA nom, Munich will still remain one of my predictions. If Paul Haggis doesn't get a DGA nom, then I won't consider it a sure bet for a nomination. If Crash hits with the SAG though, it will have support from the PGA, WGA, and SAG, and will be in a good position, however DGA will still remain THE best indicator.

The two absolute locks are Brokeback Mountain and Good Night and Good Luck, who will both have received PGA, DGA, and WGA noms.

Walk the Line is still pretty much guaranteed an Oscar nom in my opinion, but I wouldn't call it an absolute lock. More like a 99% lock. Mangold needs a DGA nom to solidify it's status. But even if it doesn't, it will still be in my lineup. It will have PGA and SAG support.

And if Jackson doesn't receive a DGA nom, it will be officially dead with no doubt.

Oh, and this means about nothing for Capote, in my opinion. This is the obvious "won't hit the Oscars" 5th choice that the PGA often makes.

but I don't think Haggis and/or Mangold will be nominated... so Jackson is my first choice as a replacement followed by Cronenberg/Allen, etc.

The exclusion of Munich is a bit of a surprise but not really that shocking, I say. I think it's still safe.

Ugh this is so depressing. Crash and Line are there but no Munich? What has this world come to ( ok they're both good movies, but common )

No DVDs for Munich or Kong for PGA
Apparently, there weren't screeners sent to the Producers Guild for Munich or Kong, which meant that anyone interested in seeing it had to go to the theater. Well, you know how that goes. What is clear from the year's picks that they aren't voting for films that "made a lot of money," as was pointed out by Geek in the forums, as much as they have in the past but are going for the more critically acclaimed (except for Kong of course), which has been known to happen in their history but does not often happen. My Big Fat Greek Wedding got a nomination, for goodness sake.

How does this bode for the business of film? The great divide just gets wider and wider.

If this is true then universal has done a piss poor job at campaigning for munich and kong.

Hardly surprising neither of them were nominated for this then.

I don't think that info (which has been up for a while) had that big of an impact. But it's why I still have Munich in my predictions... if anything, more Academy members will have seen it.
