I thought Babel's score was an improvement over Brokeback Mountain's score last year. Where were the haters last year against the composer or it's just an anti-Babel-winning anything sentiment?

Mine was Forest whitaker. I remember I had posted that they wouldn't award a BA for a performance about a insane dictator but somehow he had hollywood spellbound by his performance which some have considered more on a BSA level rather than BA and also that the overall film itself was lackluster. I just don't understand his win other than for me to conclude that he's obviously very well respected among the members and they really really liked his performance.

Yow! That's awful mean (and untrue to boot)...

It's not even to do with looks either because I didn't like her before I knew what she looked like because she's a religious homophobe. Plus it wouldn't be to do with looks either since I kind of like Queen Latifah and enjoyed Phat Girlz . It's just Jennifer Hudson herself I don't like.

Hmm, I don't know. I suppose Jennifer Hudson winning Best Supporting Actress just because I can't stand that ugly cow. She's a singer and that's what she did in the movie. She didn't really have to act. She doesn't deserve to win for being able to sing. She better enjoy her Oscar because she'll never get another one.

Even though I loved the scores for Notes on a Scandal and Pan's Labyrinth (two of the best scores of the year by far) I am happy Gustavo won for Babel. I thought it was obvious he would. I haven't seen the movie yet but I wasn't even that interested until I learned he did the score music and it had the same cinematographer as Brokeback Mountain. Considering Brokeback Mountain had the best, most powerful score music I've ever heard and the best cinematography I've ever seen I know these aspects in the film will have to be top-notch. I hope he wins every time he's nominated for Best Score .

All of the Babel hate here puzzles me. It's like it's the anti-Babel board. I haven't seen a place more negative towards it, and this is actually a board for movie fans. Weird. Yet everyone loves the overrated Little Miss Beergut, which had grating performances by Arkin (though I'm glad he beat a-hole Eddie Murphy) and Breslin.

Also, I loved the upsets for Best Animated Film and Best Song. Cars is solid but definitely overrated and Happy Feet was the best animated movie of 2006. It had fantastic animation too. And none of the Best Songs were great, but Melissa Etheridge beating all of the annoying music from Dreamgirls was a friggin' delight.

You're one angry gay guy.

It's funny because I'm sure that nobody who actually knows me would describe me as angry. They'd probably describe me the exact opposite. I'm not really a very angry person. But I know I came off angry in the post since I was ranting.

Anyway, it was disappointing that Pan's Labyrinth didn't win Best Foreign Film, since it is a great film, but since it got the other awards and is already a big hit for a foreign film and will obviously live on and be a cult favorite it doesn't bother me that much.

And Cate Blanchett should have won Best Supporting Actress, even if it was obvious she wouldn't.

I thought we went over (multiple times, in fact) that Jennifer Hudson's supposed anti-gay statements weren't true.

Whatev.

And I don't buy that they weren't true. Her denying it isn't proof enough. And considering she's really religious it's even more likely that they were true.

I wonder where girls get their body image problems from?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not someone who thinks girls need to be skinny. I have friends who are fat and have no problem with it. I do have one female friend who is fat-o-phobic and doesn't like fat people because she thinks it's wrong to be fat (she isn't religious at all, but she said overeating is the only thing she believes to be a true sin), and I'm always trying to talk some sense into her because I think it's wrong to dislike someone because they're fat. But it's not that she dislikes them, she's just scared of them/creeped out by them. She is nice to them though. Anyway, I thought Raven Goodwin was adorable in Lovely & Amazing and I also thought the dad in Little Miss Sunshine was fucking horrible during the ice cream fiasco. He was cruel. The only real reason I insult the character is because she was annoying, IMO. I thought it was obnoxious when she was like, "Little Miss Sunshine? What?" and screamed. It was like fingernails on a chalkboard. I'm not a kid person, unless they're not annoying, but most kids are so it was realistic in that respect. They aren't actually adorable and likable like the main characters in Bridge To Terabithia. I also thought it was stupid that Olive was wearing shirts that were way too small for her so her belly was sticking out, which made her gut seem worse. My co-workers all thought the same thing about her and some of them are fat. She had a gut, it's a fact. If she were likable I wouldn't call her this and would feel bad, but she was annoying, not cute like I hear a lot of people describe her.

I fail to see how Jennifer Hudson being lackluster, in YOUR opinion, in Dreamgirls or her alleged (don't believe everything you read in the tabloids) homophobia has anything to do with her being an ugly cow. Maybe if you really have an issue with her acting or her alleged personal beliefs you could address them directly, in a mature way as opposed to resorting to elementary school-level name-calling. Or at the very least get creative with these names. Ugly cow? That's the best you could do? please. I suggest grotesque manatee.

And while I don't exactly care for homophobia I don't really personally find anyone who bases their opinion on someone on something they read on the net and then feel they don't deserve any kind of success based on that unconfirmed rumor that much more respectable than any homophobe. But for the record, not everything is homophobic.
