Quote: Children of Men - Birth Sequence Tim Webber, Lucy Killick, Andy Kind, Craig Bardsley
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest John Knoll, Ned Gorman, Jakub Pistecky, Tom Fejes
Poseidon Boyd Shermis, Rhonda Gunner, Kim Libreri, Philippe Rebours
X-Men: The Last Stand Eric Saindon, Cyndi Ochs, GG Heitmann, Roger Shortt They specify which single effect for Children of Men but not for the other ones? It's an award for an individual specific effect, why don't they tell us which one?

Maybe I dont appreciate water effects but you seen one wave you seen them all. Its just a waste of money putting too much detail into water splashes wheter its Masters & Commanders or a Perfect Storm. Its as much of a waste as digitizing a dead actors face into a movie part (Brando's face costing an upwards of 20 million into SR)

Woot! Go Children Of Men!
Surprising, yet nonetheless pleasant, to see The Fountain get some love.

I'm kind of surprised Casino and Superman got in over Pirates.

Superman maybe
Casino Royale heck no.
What was really visually stunning about the film, I dont. Were the spades shaded differently than the other cards? Was it because the stuntmen were reminiscent of 70s tv style fighting complete with jumping off top of the ceiling and next shot having them roll on the ground ala Charlie's Angels, Magnum PI?
Heck I think they used the whole CR budget and snorted it through their nose

Pretty much all of the effects in Casino Royale are invisible, which surely is the best kind.
And unless I'm crazy, 'special effects' doesn't solely mean CGI noise. Some of you guys seem to forget that. Model work? SPECIAL EFFECT.

It was such a big leap from Perfect Storm to Master and Commander. And since there are still many movie is which digitized water looks crap and unintentionally funny (hello The Guardian) that it still deserves merit if someone gets it right
