I don't think that's real because I don't think Condon will win Director, as much as I'd like my claims to be right for once, heh...

The Queen and Dreamgirls were snubbed!!!
The Devil Wears Prada and The History Boys make the top 10!
Some very weird choices...

My thoughts:
Where the hell is Dreamgirls and The Queen? Oh dear.
Hounsou and O'Hara, interesting. I say one makes it, the other doesn't.
This just totally fucked up the race. YOWWWWWZA.

The Devil Wears Prada gets in over Dreamgirls and The Queen? As much as I loved the movie...huh?
This boosts Letters from Iwo Jima's profile considerably.

What the fuck? Babel? Blood Diamond? The History Boys?
How good of an indicator are these awards anyway?

Well, LOTR never made their Top 10.
Including those though, the last 20 out of the last 25 nominees have made their Top 10. The other two that missed were Gosford Park and A Beautiful Mind (Which won BP).
For now, I'll just assume this is another 2001. IF not though, the nominees from these would be:
"Letters From Iwo Jima"
"The Departed"
"Little Miss Sunshine"
"Notes on a Scandal"
"The Painted Veil"
Yeah, they're not matching perfectly this year.

Plus Blood Diamond is barely Fresh on RT.
Very interesting, though.

Well, NBR definitely hasn't been spot-on in terms of predictions these past few years.
And I'm gonna say inclusions such as Prada and Blood Diamond are in keeping with that.
This does tell us, though, that:
Iwo Jima's a definite contender.
Babel's still in the race. As is Flags (though I'm still not predicting anything big for it).
The Painted Veil has some potential.

I agree except for Flags and, to an extent, Babel. Iwo Jima's win means they're probably going to give up on Flags and put their chips on Iwo Jima to be safe. And Babel, well, how many real fans does it have?

Yeah, I guess I'd say the same for Babel as Flags: still in the race, but low on the list.

Wow, strange list.
Dreamgirls hasn't been getting raves so it's exclusion isn't that big of a shock, but no The Queen!?!? The fuck? Then again if Gosford didn't get on the list, it fits... I guess.
Letters, oh my. If they snub Scorsece for BP in favor of Eastwood again, that would just be the most saddening thing ever.
Nice to see Djimon on there, but Blood Diamond seems to have inflated love all over this announcements... sadly I don't think he'll be much of a force with the tough competition.
Looks like Notes and Veil are both in it. Will be interesting to see which one is more acclaimed of the 2.
