There are two choices that I think are ridiculous: Friday Night Lights (are you kidding me? This really dull, typical film is not worthy of top 10 best. There are so many other films that could take this films place) and Spider-Man 2 (pretty much the same thing here).

In the last 3 years that AFI has had their picks, 4 of their picks have gone on to be nominated in the Academy Awards. I think the list helps in giving Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Kinsey, and even Collateral some more coverage after not having much at all or slipping. The list also pretty much solidifies Sideways and The Aviator as getting a nod. People say Million Dollar Baby is guaranteed as well, but I'm not so sure.

I thought Friday Night Lights was an excellent movie.

and for one that is not athletic and not a football fan to say the least, I loved it. I thought there was a combination of features that when improved could really have made Friday Night Lights at the least worthy of that spot in AFI top ten!
It's 18 on my list, quite high I would think so.

If you screened these movies in Texas, more people would love Friday Night Lights than Kinsey or Maria Full of Grace. I don't see why it's not acceptible for this list?
