Post Crash wins top honours at Black Movie Awards
The very first award show for the 2005 season has named Crash the best film of the year. I know that the Black Movie Awards is probably not as reliable as, say, the Golden Globes when it comes to predicting Oscar glory, but any praise helps...right? At least on can hope...

Anyway, the ceremony will air October 19th on TNT. Here's a short list of some of the other main winners:

Best Actor: Terrence Howard, Hustle & Flow (also nominated for his supporting role in Crash)

Best Actress: Kimberly Elise, Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Best Supporting Actor: Anthony Anderson, Hustle & Flow

Best Supporting Actress: Taraji P. Henson, Hustle & Flow

Surprised that the Black Movie Awards didn't pick Hustle & Flow over Crash as the Best Picture. Especially looking at all of the acting awards.

I think calling Crash a "black" movie sort of defeats the purpose of it.

I look at those nominees and all I can say is... "what the FUCK?"

What makes Crash a black film? Directed by whitey, produced by whitey, written by whitey, not necessarily about black people specifically... when a completely whitewashed Fantastic Four (which is actually directed by a black guy) not a "black film"?

How utterly bizarre this is.

Are We There Yet? vs. Hustle & Flow.... oh boy.

Well, because racism only touches Black people. White people don't have to concern themselves with it. I don't know where Iranian, Mexican, and South American people fit into all this, but I'll get back to you on that when I figure it out.
