GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK (Robert Elswit)

According to my research team, only Beebe and Lesnie have been nominated for Oscars out of the five.
Beebe in 2002 for Chicago, he lost
Lesnie in 2001 for Fellowship, he won

Oh my, Batman??
It looks like it could be the one that will be left out on Oscar.
Then again, they DID nominate Batman Forever for the same category. Though it was the more colorful version.

I´d say It´s between BBm, Good night and good luck and Kong (for the Oscars). But I didn´t know Lesnie had one already... Guess that disminishes his chances a little bit.

BBM was a gorgeous film. Now, you can attribute some of that to the shooting location. But man, it looked beautiful.
GNGL IS Black and White. That's a plus from the start. But that only goes so far.
I would have liked to see some Sin City love.

Sin city´s techs were amazing. But I don´t know how they feel about a movie almost completely shot on blue screen. (Or wait... was it?)

Good call on black 'n white, Christian, yoshue and others...
Batman Begins is surprising.
Harry Potter and Jarhead were hugely snubbed. Both had top-notch cinematography.
King Kong will probably win, unless Brokeback Mountain can upset.

well, green.
But I do believe it went the Sky Captain route. I'm not the Sin City expert though.

Wow, Munich has no shown no tech support, missing sound editing finalist list and now this.
Very solid lineup and all deserving.

Am I the only one who thinks Batman does not belong on this list? I really liked the film, but the action sequences were pretty hacked up (both an editing and cinematography problem) and those final sequences in the narrows are pretty hideous. Kind of annoying when there were much better contenders like Munich (duh!), 2046 and Sin City. I can't speak for Brokeback, but Memoirs, Good Night and Kong all deserve their nominations.

Hmm... maybe the sequences when Bruce was trekking the snowy mountain or the training on ice captivated the guild.

Batman's cinematography was stunning. I wanted to see Constant Gardener recognized, but it's hard to find much fault with those five.
That said, I'm not exactly happy about it.

What I mentioned about BBM above wasn't a knock btw, the film looked stunning. It's just, that location lends itself to beauty. I was a pretty average cinematography student in the few classes I did take on the craft. But with my light meter, a pretty decent Kodak stock from my fridge, and the old Bolex, I could end up with some incredible vistas.

Ugh Batman. Constant Gardener, Munich were robbed.
My ideals this year being:
2046
The Constant Gardener
Good Night, and Good Luck.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Munich
Good Night will win the Oscar. It's Cinematography was fantastic.

Well the cinematography in the first what? 30min or so was pretty great in BB. After that it was still solid.

During the snow scene? It's okay. I actually think the cinematography is rather straight forward throughout the bulk of the movie.

Batman?
Wow, it looks like these awards are actually going out of their way to snub Munich.
