Looks like Spielberg could be the lone director nominee, as odd as that sounds.

It does sound very odd. What if the Academy also shuts out Munich? What if 'ol PJ gets a director nom and Speiberg misses out on that too? I wonder what people would say then! ;)

The situation with Munich looks like 2002 for Spielberg with Catch Me If You Can. The difference is CMIYC was one of the best reviewed films of the season and a box office hit, yet Dreamworks couldn't get the film a GG nom, PGA or DGA. CMIYC got two Oscar noms for supporting actor and score.

The good news is with no Munich I can skip awards season since I have no interest in the other potential nominees. Depending on what happens at the box office Munich's dvd could be out as early as March. I believe the CMIYC dvd was out in April.
