Your all-time favorite Best Picture nominees
Well, the title is self-explanatory. Since 1927 over 400 movies have been nominated for the Best Picture award. Some of them deservingly so, some of them not. Some of them deservingly won, som of them undeservingly lost. What I am asking you is, what are your favorite Best Picture nominees? That includes those movies that won Best Picture as well as those that didn't.
My list goes like this:
1. L.A. Confidential
2. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
3. The Pianist
4. The Sixth Sense
5. The Green Mile
6. Star Wars: A New Hope
7. Gladiator
8. Forrest Gump
9. Platoon
10. American Beauty
Note: I have to re-watch Schindler's List
What are your picks?

Lecter excuse me for correcting you on facts - but how are there over 500 pictures nominated. Wouldn't it closer to
2005 - 1927 = 78 years * 5 = 390 nominations - not taking into account the number of early nominations.
And truthfully, TO ME, I don't care about the only the ones that were nominated - there were plenty of movies that should have been nominated so Oscar has made lots of mistakes.
Except for the LAST 2 YEARS WHERE OSCAR GOT EVERYTHING RIGHT - HE HE.

You know that up into the fourties there were years with 10 and 12 Best Picture nominees, right?

There were 447 films nominated for BP (for a number of years more than 5 films were nominated).
But this thread isn't about the exact number.
Shawshank
Pulp Fiction
Casablanca
Forrest Gump
Titanic
Lord of the Rinsgs Trilogy
Star Wars
ET
West Side Story
Ben Hur
Godfather I/II
Gone with the Wind
Schindler's List
There are more to come.

Because a lot of people see it has a great film, and I do not and just wanted everyone to know, where I stand on that.

Do you think Braveheart is the worst BP winner of all-time?

If I had to give you an answer right away I would say yes, but I am sure if I sat down and thought about it, I could come up with a list that I felt were worse.
