From what I've seen
1. Joaquin Phoenix-The Master 2. Daniel Day-Lewis-Lincoln 3. Colin Firth-The King's Speech 4. Jesse Eisenberg-The Social Network 5. Jeff Bridges-True Grit 6. Gary Oldman - Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy
All fantastic performances really.

An interesting question is...what is the worst?
For me: Brad Pitt. Not terrible, just utterly unremarkable.

For me: Brad Pitt. Not terrible, just utterly unremarkable. I actually think Moneyball is one of Pitt's best performances. I'd probably say Jeff Bridges in True Grit or Morgan Freeman in Invictus. Two performances I liked but am not sure were worthy of nominations.

Well, at least Pitt in Moneyball was better than in Benjamin Button, one of the worst acting noms of the past ten years.

I thought Eisenberg was the best nominee in his year.

The worst is Gary Oldman, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Jesse Eisenberg is a close second.

Re: BEST ACTOR: favorite performance (2009-2012)
Daniel Day-Lewis.
I'd say the weakest is Morgan Freeman. It wasn't a bad performance, but it wasn't really nomination-worthy, either. It seemed like he was nominated more for the role and the admiration for him as an actor than for the actual performance (ditto for his co-star Matt Damon in the supporting category).

The most dangerous movie come any Oscar season, a Clint Eastwood film produced by the Weinsteins
