 Re: The 2010 Contenders Discussion
I thought TKAAR has its steam some time ago. I still think it's barely fighting for the Top 10.
Shoe-ins: The Social Network, The King's Speech, Black Swan, The Fighter, True Grit, Inception, Toy Story 3
I also think 127 Hours is definitely in, despite losing some steam, but it has wide support (it should get nods in technical categories, a nod for Franco and Boyle is after all liked). Winter's Bone is in because it has a passionate support (moreso than TKAAR). It has been popping up everywhere it seems (while TKAAR get shunned most of the time in these precursors it seems).
So the last spot for me is between The Town, TKAAR and possibly The Ghost Writer/Another Year, in that order of probability from where I stand.

 Re: The 2010 Contenders Discussion
Biutiful, In A Better World and Dogtooth shoul get in.
For the remaining two...Incendies and Confessions, I guess.
Will the Academy decide to reward Innaritu at last?

I doubt Biutiful will win. It never seems to go to the one with the highest profile.
Incendies or In a Better World for the win, I s'pose.

 Re: The 2010 Contenders Discussion
Would a Javier Bardem nomination help it win? Or is that trying to make connections that aren't there?
Similarly, I'm wondering if Pete Postelwaite support will get him a BSA nomination and help secure The Town a Best Picture nomination....

Similarly, I'm wondering if Pete Postelwaite support will get him a BSA nomination and help secure The Town a Best Picture nomination.... Pan's Labyrinth got six Oscar noms, three Oscar winms and didn't help the film to win Best Foreign. Amelie had five noms and didn't win best Foreign. Penelope Cruz got an Oscar nom for Volver, but the film wasn't nominated for Best Foreign (and I think it was eligible). So...

Best Picture simulation that we did last year...should I/we do it again or is it a foregone conclusion?

 Re: The 2010 Contenders Discussion
Sure. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion at all.

 Re: The 2010 Contenders Discussion
The King's Speech. Fincher. Firth. Bening. Rush. Bonham Carter (maybe Steinfeld). Sorkin & TSN. Seidler & King's Speech.
This where I'm at in terms of my predictions.

 Re: The 2010 Contenders Discussion
Right now I see:
The King's Speech Fincher Firth Portman Bale Leo Screenplay: The King's Speech and The Social Network
Most likely upset is Rush over Bale, IMO.

 Re: The 2010 Contenders Discussion
So TSN wins ACE (though really nothing comes close to TSN's editing this year from what I've seen), True Grit wins CAS. Interesting. It might not be over for TSN yet...

 Re: The 2010 Contenders Discussion
The Social Network looks like a tween soap opera to me. The Oscars is not daytime Emmy's so I hope TSN goes home empty-handed tonight.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.
