Post Predict next year's ten-film Best Picture lineup!
I love super-early predictions. :P Based on anticipation, expectations, preconceived notions, etc. It's fun, IMO, to compare them to the real BP lineup when it is announced months later, deep into the awards season.

My predicted lineup:

The American
Biutiful
The Ghost Writer
Inception
Love and Other Drugs
Never Let Me Go
Stone
The Tree of Life
True Grit
The Way Back

I'm disappointed Peter Morgan's The Special Relationship, in which Michael Sheen reprises the role of Tony Blair and Dennis Quaid and Hope Davis portray Bill and Hillary Clinton, is going to air on HBO in the U.S. Therefore it will be ineligible for the Academy Awards, which is a pity considering how well-received The Queen and Frost/Nixon were. (It's receiving a theatrical release in the United Kingdom.)

All they'd have to do is open it briefly in LA and I believe it is qualified. But yeah that's strange.

They should, though the "TV movie" stigma would still be a challenge.

It's definitely strange, especially since it's been deemed theatrical release worthy in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. It's a such a big project (the "sequel" to the Oscar-winning The Queen) to be just a TV movie (or HBO movie, since it's not TV, it's HBO ;) ).

Why would it be? Oscar would make historic decision again. And that seems all they care about these past few years.
