Definitely. If they're keeping that #1 type of ballot proccesing then ST won't happen as if it gets onto ballot it won't be among top choices. Up has a much better shot as Pixar has much broader support. It will definitely show up in quite a few top ballot choices.

Potter won't happen either.

Up and a long shot of Trek and maybe Potter seem to be the only summer shots. I don't think Funny People looks good at all, frankly.

The Hurt Locker definitely has a chance, with 93 at both MC and BFCA. In fact I current have it in, making it and Up the two summer releases to get nominated.

A moot point but Public Enemies is inching towards becoming Mann's biggest hit stateside. 79.6 vs 101.1

The Hurt Locker's definitely in with 10 nominees. I think they'll give Bigelow a shot in Director too.

What's going on with that? Did it have a great hold?

And here's my best guess at the box office for my 2009 BP nominees picks:

1. Avatar - 500
2. Up - 300 286.7
3. Public Enemies - 130 94.5 500 Days of Summer - 50
4. Funny People - 130 35.1 Bright Star - 15
5. The Lovely Bones - 100
6. Invictus - 100
7. Nine - 100
8. Shutter Island - 70
9. Precious - 40
10. The Hurt Locker - 30 7.7

Hurt Locker has been stuck in 1st gear for the past 2 weeks. Up is going to miss 300m.

The Road - $40 million
Bright Star - $10 million
Precious - $80 million
The Lovely Bones - $130 million
Invictus - $55 million
Nine - $115 million
Shutter Island - $115 million (Cape Fear adjusts to $130 million, and Scorsese/DiCaprio is red hot)
The Hurt Locker - $15 million

Won't even get half that.

Barring a successful rerelease, The Hurt Locker should join the ranks of Letters From Iwo Jima (13.7m), Secrets & Lies (13.4m), and My Left Foot (14.7) as the lowest grossing BP nominees of the last 20 years
