Countdown to her Oscar: Amy Adams
Taking after Rod's Penelope Cruz thread, I firmly believe it's only a matter of time before Amy Adams wins an Oscar.
She was all kinds of amazing in Sunshine Cleaning and I just came from Night at the Museum 2 (don't ask) and I must say, she is turning into the most understated actress of her generation now.
Oscar history: Best Supporting Actress for Junebug (2006) Best Supporting Actress for Doubt (2009)
Upcoming Films: So, I'm not seeing much potential this year, but we'll just have to wait and see what she has in store in years to come.
How long do you all think before she finally gets hers? Will she win for lead or will she win for supporting?

She does have Julie & Julia later this summer. And she was so robbed for Enchanted.

Re: Countdown to her Oscar: Amy Adams
I love amy adams with all my heart and fully believe she is not only the most understated actress of the modern acting community, but one of the best in general. She will win within the next five years. Adams is a magical talent and people are finally catching on, she will get the right role soon and get the oscar. It will be for supporting. Amy can lead a movie if she needs to, but she i best in her 20-30 min supporting roles, and even in just very small roles (ala Charlie Wilson's War) she is an absolute scene stealer. Although she did lead the hell out of Enchanted.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Adams is a great actress. I'm sure she'll win eventually.

I've given up predicting whether or not certain people will win or lose until it looks like they have a horse in the race. Not that it matters to someone like Adams. Which it doesn't.

True in most cases. However, it was perfectly clear to me even over a year ago that Kate Winslet would eventually win. Five noms by the age of 30, dammit! She had it coming, really. I say the same about DiCaprio. Going from one baity project to another...he'll get it.

People said that about Cruise though, but now he's kind of self-destructed. It seems that even AMPAS is aware of the fact that Oscars (at least for the time being) are essentially worthless to those who already have attained some sort of noteriety.

But Cruise didn't have so many Oscar noms so early on. And he also made flicks like Mission: Impossible. Also, he is crazy. Batshit crazy.

He did try with a Nazi pic. No holocaust though. Half of the magic ingredient was missing.
