Her performance in Doubt is not deserving of a nomination. Neither is Kate Winslet's in The Reader, Pitt's in Button, etc. and there are many non-talent-stuff reasons for those too...

I think that has something to do with it. But we also have to realize that the role was specifically written for a black person, so it's a bit of a moot point. I think any black actress would have been nominated for that role.
Ruby Dee's nomination last year marked the 10th straight year of minorities being nominated in acting categories. Taraji P. Henson and Davis make it 11 straight years.
