I've had these threads for the past two years and in none of them the majority actually picked the right option (last year oit was Transformers not winning Best Visual Effects and Amy Ryan/Cate Blanchett not winning Best Supporting Actress, the year before it was Pan's Labyrinth losing Best Foreign Picture).

All are pretty difficult to imaine, but if any of these were to happen...I'd say it'd be Milk losing Best Original Screenplay.

Wow.. Only 8% for Heath Ledger.. I'm really surprised by the results of thie Poll thus far, cause I think if Heath Ledger doesn't get the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, I think the Batfans will absolutely implode on the Net rivaling that of the Rodney King beating.. Seriously, THIS will be the upset cause he certainly deserves it and it would actually be caring and classy given his demise..

Okay, so at thi point, Button winning less than three techs and Milk losing Screenplay look like the only possibilities.

Those who think that Slumdog will win nothing are fools.

Gonna change my pick to Langella getting Best Actor

The way I see it it's the easiest way for Frost to get something. Then The Wrestler clearly wasn't that beloved by the block. I've also always been wary about Penn getting a 2nd Oscar in the face of the Rourke thing and Langella being old and due, especially for a gay film

Also IMO he gives the best performance of the group. I didn't expect this. Rourke is great and all but Langella is amazing.

I still think Rourke's the frontrunner, but we'll see

Opie was on The View this morning, going on and on about the studio wanting name stars for the film but Frank Langella calling him up and insisting that he be considered to reprise the role, even though he isn't money.

That's gonna be the narrative for the next month, so get used to it.

Watched it too. I want to know who the actors were that sent it videos without Ron asking for them. Sounds funny and sad and kinda creepy.

Milk not winning Best Original Screenplay. I know it's the one Best Picture nominee in the category, but still -- the writing is strong, but not flashy. It's a conventional, point-A-to-point-B biopic. Doesn't Original Screenplay, for better or worse, tend to go to more... "quirky" fare?

Since this wasn't on the poll, I s'pose it's not a HUGE upset, but I'm currently predicting The Class to win Best Foreign Language Film (upsetting obvious frontrunner Waltz with Bashir).

That would be indeed a really big upset.

Button may lose make up to Hellboy 2. Remember, the lesser categories are voted on only by that particular branch, and the make up people may be more impressed with Hellboy.

I think that's only for nominations.
