How Do 2008's BP Nominees Compare To Year's Past?
Unless I grow a huge boner for The Reader later today, 2008 could top 2005, 1999, and 1986 as the least impressive group of BP nominees in my lifetime. Thank god for Milk.

I've only seen 3 of the nominees:
Benjamin Button: love Slumdog: love Frost/Nixon: like
Last year's crop was actually my favorite group of nominees in a long time. I had seen every movie by nomination time and loved all of them.

Last year's nominations were fantastic and made me optimistic about the oscars again. D'oh!
Slumdog is awesome. Nixon and Milk are pretty good. Sometimes I like Button, sometimes I hate it. Fuck The Reader. The most boring fivesome they could have given us.

2005 with Crash and Capote and 2002 with Gangs of New York were pretty awful line ups in my opinion, even if there were some films in there I really liked.

Duuuuuuude..... Milk was so bland I felt the need to watch paint dry for excitement after.

I only really liked Munich from 2005.
Crash - The Reader Brokeback Mountain - Slumdog Millionaire Good Night, and Good Luck - Frost/Nixon Munich - Milk

Looking back, it's easy to see that every year is largely indefensible. Everyone, myself included, seems to forget this as each season begins.
