I'd have to go with Benjamin Button missing editing if one of the five misses (which I guess will happen). It was just a terribly chopped film. And not just because it was overlong.

Picture, Director, and Editing:
-The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
-The Dark Knight
-Frost/Nixon
-Milk
-Slumdog Millionaire

It would be quite odd if it ended up that way, though. That would make this group a Power Five if there's ever been.

Q: What does Gladiator, The Sixth Sense, Saving Private Ryan, Return of the King, Fellowship of the Ring, Forrest Gump, and The Dark Knight all have in common?

A: They're all recent BP nominees (well, hopefully for TDK) that were also nominated for their screenplays, they were also the highest grossing or one of the highest grossing films of their respective years. It takes a stronger than usual screenplay to transcend the liability of being a massive commercial success and capture the unmistakable zeitgeist.

Kris Tapley agrees on the link between Picture and Screenplay for TDK

Quote:
I don’t see any way in hell “The Dark Knight” gets a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination and then fails to show up in the Best Picture category. So…if we hear the brothers Nolan and David Goyer’s names uttered…we’ll know.

It just wouldn't make sense to award it a BP nom and not Screenplay. So yeah, if we don't hear the Nolans when that category is announced, I'd be wary about BP.

Without bothering to even count, I'll say it's a 15/15 consensus...
