They're too conservative to nominate an animate film for BP, there's no way they hand an award to an oddity like Ponyo. I think that all anyone here is hoping for, is the Best Animated Picture Oscar... oh I made the first statement just to illustrate their unadventurous tendencies, and then that they would never hand an award to something like Ponyo over something like Up (which would presumably Best Animated). sorry, that was unclear.

Everyone knew WALL-E was gonna blow them away and cure cancer while it was at it. So, really just Cars and Ratatouille (And c'mon, you have to give them Cars). Anyway, Spirited Away had its own weird stuff, so I don't think Ponyo will have that much of a problem competing with Up.

With WALL-E it was inverted to after the release date. "I raised my kid on DW crap rather than Looney Tunes or Tom & Jerry or Ren & Stimpy, so I couldn't use it as a proper babysitter for 2 hours!"

Oh please, all kids need to have something off-kilter in their entertainment growing up if they don't want to end up boring. Hey, I saw Casino when I was 5. What's wrong with 1990s R&S anyway?

If the women didn't leave the kitchen, there wouldn't be a problem right now.

 Re: Ponyo vs Up!
Im hoping this year produces enough so we can have 5 nominees.
And hopefully it's not locked up before any awards are even awarded.
Ponyo, Up, 9, and Princess and the Frog might all have a chance. So annoying when it doesnt even matter what gets nominated because we know the winner like it's been for so many years. And perhaps if Up and Princess and the Frog are nominated, that could help the other nominee(s) out by causing some split votes.
