Farrell's speech was great. Heartfelt, interesting, funny, quirky. He nailed it. He should win more often. ;)

good for Kate though. too bad her wins had to come from not-so-great movies though.

I just woke up. And these made my day. Double win for Kate! YAY! Also Colin was completely underrated. Wouldn't call it the best performance of the year, but he deserved more mentions than what he got.

wow. what a night. just watched the whole thing on TiVo. I think I was pretty pleased overall. There were some good surprises and one hefty one!

Button ZIP. Slumdog wins big.... exactly like I predicted.

Ok, let's see. Supporting Actress... happy for Kate but felt soooo bad for Penelope. I'm so glad VCB won best comedy, especially over Happy-Go-Lucky. Hawkins won me over with her speech but I'm still not giving the film a pass.

Then Lead Actress. I got up off the couch and was standing in awe. It definitely made the night, hell the awards season! What a feat if there was a repeat of that at the Oscras... but poor Penelope does deserve something.

Yay for Rourke and yayy for Best Song!!

TV winners were a snooze-fest. I hate how they discriminate against supporting actors by lumping them into one category and the TV one is the worst... series, tv movie, mini-series. drama, and comedy all in one!! I mean NPH going against Tom Wilkinson? give me a break!

The Globes made me realize how much of a girl crush I have on Kate Winslet

The woman is amazing. And it looks like her perennial bridesmaid status may actually come to an end this year! Yay

Wow, and that was a complete surprise! Everyone was expecting TDK to win those categories -- especially since it wasn't nominated in either one.... :mer:

Heh. Even better!!!

(BTW, I really did know that TDK hadn't even been good enough to get nominated for these awards - - I was just waiting for a straight man to show up in this thread so I could finish the joke. Thanx for the assist, Groucho!)

It seems to have spluttered out in the last few weeks or so. On the other hand, I can't imagine the shitstorm of it not getting nominated but F/N getting in.
