Quote:
Freeway is a 1996 crime film written and directed by Matthew Bright, starring Kiefer Sutherland, Reese Witherspoon and Brooke Shields.

The plot of this film resembles the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood.

I was thinking about this movie the other day.

It's a completely undervalued satirical takeoff on Little Red Riding Hood, with tremendous performances from Reese Witherspoon (Little Red Riding Hood/white-trash Vanessa) and Kiefer Sutherland (big-bad wolf serial killer Bob).

I think this is the movie Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers tried to be but failed at, which is an effective satire on the media's obsession with violence. Of course, that's not all the film is about, but this film is still pretty terrific.

I've never even heard of it.

Reese and Kiefer are so good, though. It can't be that old.

Oh my gosh, rent it!

It came out in limited release in August 1996, but I don't think it made much more than $400,000 or so at the box office.

It did very poorly at the box office $295,493 thousand to be exact.

But its a great little film. I have it on DVD, and I watch it often. It is filled with hysterical, and memorable one-liners that you will never forgot. Reese Witherspoon is great, and hilarious in her role. Same for Keifer Sutherland, and Brittany Murphy. I also really liked the ending, and what happened to Vanessa's grandma might of been sad to some people, but I was laughing so hard.
