 Bringing Up Baby
Bringing Up Baby Quote: Bringing Up Baby is a 1938 American screwball comedy film directed by Howard Hawks and starring Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. The movie tells the story of a scientist winding up in various predicaments involving a woman with a unique sense of logic and a leopard named Baby. The supporting cast includes Charles Ruggles, Barry Fitzgerald, Walter Catlett, and May Robson.
Adapted by Dudley Nichols and Hagar Wilde from a short story by Wilde that originally appeared in Collier's Weekly magazine on April 10, 1937, Bringing Up Baby was an infamous box office catastrophe, causing Hawks to be fired from his next RKO film (Gunga Din, also starring Cary Grant) and forcing Hepburn to buy out her contract. As time went on, however, the movie is now considered to be a classic ahead of its time, and it continues to generate revenue for Hepburn's estate.

No reviews for this yet? That's surprising. It was a fun movie. I don't like very many old films but this one was very enjoyable. Cast was great as well.

One of the very best! This is one movie I can't ever get tired of watching. The Aunt and their visit to her house, the dog and the bone, the scene in jail when K.Hep does her street talk, Cary Grany is phenomenal, and Baby of course! And the ending! Have you ever seen the Madonna version?

An absurdist comedy to the extreme. Everything occurs at such a clip it prevents the audience from recognizing just how insane what they are watching is. It's as hilarious as it is outrageous, I cannot recall having laughed as hard and consistently in a long time.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

 Re: Bringing Up Baby
This is gold. Grant as the stammering guy who keeps having everything go against him and Hepburn as the scatterbrain are both fantastic, and it's a great physical comedy all around from the humans to the animals (I didn't even know what baby was going into the movie so finding out midway through was hilarious) as it keeps upping the ante for comic scenarios. Definitely one of the best comedies of the B&W era.
