 Re: EDtv
Very good point. The Truman Show is superior in every cinematic sense, from the acting to the direction to the writing, but this is a much closer imagining of reality television: in the end, viewers did not want a 24/7 Leave It to Beaver style environment, but rather blue-collar sex and melodrama.

 Re: EDtv
Comparing this to The Truman Show is like comparing apples and oranges. They do have the similar reality TV plot, but they are very different movies.
That being said, I love both films. This is probably one of the most underrated movies that there is, IMO. It is so, so funny and realistic and entertaining. Very well written, directed and it has some great performances. I dare say it is even quite thought provoking. One of my favorite movies of 1999.
9/10

It has been years since I've seen this but I loved it when it first came out on video. I'd probably give it at least an 8/10.

 Re: EDtv
Ron Howard directed fairly funny movies in the 80s, but between there and here lost any idea how to do a comedy.

I enjoyed this. Great to watch an old McConaughey film and also see loads of other supporting actors. Elizabeth Hurley is smoking.

I haven't seen it since it came out, but I was underwhelmed at the time. *C*
