 Mommie Dearest
Mommie Dearest Quote: Mommie Dearest is a 1981 American biographical drama film about Joan Crawford, starring Faye Dunaway. The film was directed by Frank Perry. The story was adapted for the screen by Robert Getchell, Tracy Hotchner, Frank Perry, and Frank Yablans, based on the 1978 autobiography of the same name by Christina Crawford. The executive producers were Christina's husband, David Koontz, and Terrence O'Neill, Dunaway's then-boyfriend and soon-to-be husband.
The film was a commercial success, but a critical semi-disaster and was eventually disliked by Dunaway herself. However, it has become a cult classic.

I watched this film when I was a wee boy, but from what I remember it was touching and sad. Mummy dearest (Joan Crawford) really gave her little daughter a horrid time, but she still loved her mum for some odd reason till the bitter end. I need to watch this again in adulthood.

Campy to the nth degree... I thoroughly enjoyed this movie because Faye Dunaway is such a hoot to watch as the near-psychotic Joan Crawford.
I've hated wire hangers since.

Really, really awful.
Faye Dunaway is hilariously over-the-top as Joan Crawford.

One of the few movies I couldn't stick through til the end.
It's too funny but in all the wrong ways.

Yeah, those cheesy catfight scenes with Joan and Christina... funny stuff. \:D/

I enjoyed it a lot too. The wire hanger scene is really scary, and hilarious at the same time. It's too cheesy to ever take seriously as a film, but for some odd reason I am always entertained by it. Guilty pleasure anyone?

It is an awful film, but that's what I found so fun about it.
I sort of view this film as a drama gone horribly wrong. It very much turns into "camp" and doesn't take long. I enjoy this film in the same way I enjoy films like Porkys: Terribly made films, but fun if you have the right personality for it.

It's not a movie. It's loosely pieced "best of worst moments by Joan brought to you by his stepdaughter" scenes. I actually thought Faye was great for all the wrong reasons. A lesser and not so over the top performance would't make this a cult camp classic as is.
