Wow, I saw this one in the theatres so long ago, I barely remember it. Tonally it felt ok, and was supposed to be a character study of three different women at different points in thier lives. Barrymore was an accessory and just the young girl having fun. Goldberg was exceptionally matronly in this movie. It suited her, since she still kept some "bohemian" edge (the feminist, so to speak), and Parker is the central figure, but the least convincing. Not her acting, since everyone did a good job with what they were granted, but the AIDS storyline. It came up at the same time AIDS finally fit the Hollywood industry as a topic, and for that, it and Philadelphia are very brave and groundsetters. but it just kind of felt tired. I do like how its not a neat ending though.
B-ish (can't be more succinct because I would have to rewatch the movie)
