Quote:
True Lies is a 1994 American action-comedy film directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Tia Carrere, Charlton Heston, and Art Malik. Eliza Dushku also appears in the film in one of her first major film roles. True Lies is an extended remake of the 1991 French film La Totale!, which was directed by Claude Zidi and starred Thierry Lhermitte and Miou-Miou. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and Curtis won a Golden Globe for her comedic portrayal of Helen Tasker.

True Lies was the first Lightstorm Entertainment project to be distributed under Cameron's multi-million dollar production deal with 20th Century Fox, as well as the first major production for the visual effects company Digital Domain, which was co-founded by Cameron. True Lies was the only feature film collaboration outside of the Terminator series to feature Cameron, Schwarzenegger, and Brad Fiedel as director, actor, and composer respectively.

Upon its release, True Lies was one of the most expensive films ever made, costing between $100 and 120 million.

After A Fish Called Wanda, Jamie Lee Curtis' best movie - she was great here.

4 out of 5.

(I'm still waiting for TL2!)

I refuse to believe that there is anyone who doesn't appreciate this movie. At a running time of over 140 minutes it never gets boring. Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnie have good chemistry and both are top notch. James Cameron is the most gifted action-director ever.

This is an absolute gem. Not only are Arnold and Jim top notch with this effort, but Bill Paxton steals everything. Tom ARnold is awesome also. I simply would not be able to fathom anyone not liking this film.

Bill Paxton as a used car salesman is just too funny.

James Cameron's true masterpiece.

Good story.
Good acting.
Great action.
I watch this at least 40 times a year... okay I am exaggerating. More like 20. But still, it's just that great. The ending is superb, wait, who am I kidding? The whole movie is superb! I wish this grossed $600.8 million instead of Titanic!

Great action movie with wit and style. Everyone was good, even Tom Arnold! The opening sequence is the best Bond sequence I've ever seen. Too bad it's not in a Bond movie. And whatever happened to Tia Carrera. She was hot!

My grade: A-

This film proved that Arnold and Cameron were the perfect match, or it might just be the genious in Cameron. I think those two need to do more films together ''

Anyway this movie rocked, one of Arnolds best

Fun action comedy with a surprisingly witty script and a great cast. Possesses equal amounts of high-octane action stunts and sharp, smart humour, and the combination is perfect. Arnold is quite good and Jamie Lee Curtis has never been better, but this film is stolen by Tom Arnold and Bill Paxton in hilarious supporting roles. Goes a little off the rails at the end, but it's immensely entertaining and incredibly rewatchable. Cameron is a god of action movies.

A+/A

Yeah I loved this too. Righteous action from Cameron of course, and as always continuing one of his trademarks, loveable and human characters in the middle of it all too. I maintain that he would be the best action director ever anyways, but the human factor he manages to work into every film is what makes him not only the best action director, but one of the best directors ever, period.

Arnold, Jamie Lee, Tom Arnold all do awesome here, and Bill Paxton's role is pure gold. I think they all were having a lot of fun doing this, and it shows on screen.

Definitley one of the most entertaining and pure blasts of a film out there. Probably JC's weakest that I've seen, but does that mean anything at all?

T2 - A+
Titanic - A+
Aliens - A+
Terminator - A+/A
True Lies - A+/A

LOL. Jesus Christ indeed.

I was much less enamoured with True Lies than the rest of you guys, but it's entertaining and humorous throughout. Shack is right that it's Cameron's weakest film, he's better at action than comedy. B-

Very similar to Commando: weak story, some fat laughs, the bad ones who deserve to die, muddling fun and all the muscles of the good old Schwarzy. After Terminator 2, Cameron ate his brain.
I've also heard it's the carbon copy of a french film called La Totale, not sure if it's true though.
C-- or 5/10

One of the best action films of the 90s for sure. Arnolds last huge film that made him the superstar he rightfully deserved. Its hard to believe Cameron only made Titanic after this movie. I do hope that Arnold may be able to do something in a future Cameron film. They were on the great match of Stars and directors like Howard and Hanks, Burton and Depp, or Dicaprio and Scorcese.

A+

Hm, yeah, I hope Avatar will deliver after such a long time waiting. Cameron is an excellent director. I'd rank his films as following:

1. T2: Judgement Day - A/A+
2. Aliens - A
3. Titanic - A
4. The Terminator - A-
5. True Lies - A-

I need to rewatch the Director's Cut of Abyss, but it is likely the weakest of the bunch.

He is the director who knows how to ENTERTAIN masses and make great films. Oh man, just imagine him making Transformers!!!

With that glorious blue tint. I miss the tint, even Titanic had it.
