Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life Quote: Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life is a 2003 action film directed by Jan de Bont, and starring Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft. It is a sequel to the 2001 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. It's a well-hated movie, but I enjoyed it a lot. Not as good as the original, but still quite entertaining. B+

Honestly, it's not a very good film but I enjoy both of the Tomb Raider films, guilty pleasures.

Maybe I'm a little bias because it's Tomb Raider, but I had a blast watching them. The action scenes are amazing and Angelina Jolie is the perfect Lara Croft.

I really really really wanted this one to be good. The first one had so much potential and missed out on almost all of it. This one, unfortunately, despite a different director was just more of the same. The action was unbearably slow at most times, the villain was rather lame and the opportunities were by far not well-explored. Angelina Jolie and Gerard Butler save the movie from being a desaster.

Painfully stupid, but it at least felt kinda almost like a real movie. The first one didn't provide that luxury.

Quite possible one of the worst summer movies ever made. This thing is beyond bland, its superbland, uberbland, blandoplus.
One can only hope talk of another sequel is just that, talk

Lara Croft was great for the first hour...
The first Tomb Raider was a jumbled up boring old mess of a movie -- truly awful. But in this sequel, Lara was actually pretty darn entertaining in an Indiana Jones kind of way, but it seems the director and writers went home after completing the first hour of this sequel, because after that it seemed just like I was back at the first movie. What a waste, 'cause I coulda used a good archaeology adventure round about now...
(One bright spot for old Red Dwarf fans, is that Chris Barrie (Rimmer) reprises his role as Lara's assistant, Hilary!)
5 out of 5 for the first hour... 3 out of 5 overall.

Re: Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
I'd like to see a third entry in this series - - one finally done right all the way through.

Re: Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
The best thing I can say about it is that it's better than the first one.

Re: Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
I never saw this, even though I thought the first Tomb Raider was ok, so I felt I had to check this out at some point as well. Jolie just fits the role perfect, and Butler was a nice addition to the cast as well. Surprised to see Djimon Hounsou as well in a small role. Finally the sets are pretty nice too, and that's where it stops to what is has to offer. It's really pretty crap, silly dialogue, jokes, poor script, no sense of what it really is, bit of romance here, bit of drama there, mostly it's just action but it never gets entertaining. The film is bearable though because of the points mentioned earlier. As Jolie fan I can see it being found enjoyable, but otherwise stay-away.
