 Lethal Weapon
Lethal Weapon Quote: Lethal Weapon is a 1987 American buddy cop action film, and the first in a series of films, all directed by Richard Donner and starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as a mismatched pair of LAPD detectives, and Gary Busey as their primary adversary. After the first film, the series fell into the action thriller genres, and is generally considered to typify the "buddy cop" plot device.

Second best cop movie of the 80's only behind Beverly Hills Cop.

Excellent, followed by a decent sequel followed by two more utterly crappy sequels.

Wow Im surprised that there are so few post for Lethal Weapon
Lethal Weapon and Die Hard at the time for the pedestal of action flicks. Im more of a fan of Lethal Weapon because the chemistry between Glover and Gibson was one of the best and they work well with each other. Gibson plays the suicidal cop who lost his wife convincingly but comical at the same time

One really does wonder how by the end of this franchise we had been laden with something akin to slapstick parody when this very dark movie was the starting point.
The banter and general light air of the sequels are almost non-existant here, instead we get Gibson playing a man in a emotional black hole his macabre deathwish permiating all it touches. The scene with him holding the handgun in his mouth while a cartoon blares from the TV is seriously disturbing but all this deep and dirty analysis gifts us richly layered characters with Glover proving more then a match in the interest stakes.
The anti 80s action movie for me and a highly impressive one

It's a classic. One of the top 5 action movies ever made. It's tense, exciting, funny and never bores you. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover is the best cop duo in movie history. A+
