Quote:
Kelly, a punk-rocker turned suburban mom, is nostalgic for a life she can no longer have and uncertain of a future she doesn't yet fit in. Seventeen-year-old Cal is frustrated at his lack of control over the hand he's been dealt. When the two strike up an unlikely friendship, it's the perfect spark needed to thrust them both back to life.

Post Re: Kelly & Cal
There is a really great two thirds of a movie here. Unfortunately for the viewer, it takes a turn at the end that I just didn't want it to go down and it doesn't provide enough closure to the most important aspect of the movie, Kelly and Cal's wonderful friendship. The reason this movie works so well is because of the performances by Juliette Lewis and Jonny Weston, who I've never seen before and gives a star making performance here. They had wonderful chemistry and I could have watched these characters talk forever. The last twenty minutes or so though was incredibly sloppy and felt tacked on to add a bit of drama to and otherwise great film. Definitely recommended though, it was delightful.

B+

I kind of disagree. I thought it was inevitable and realistic it would go down that road. But I do agree about the lack of closure in regards to their friendship. That kind of left me wanting more.

Anyway, I thought it was a lovely little film. Juliette Lewis and Jonny Weston were great. This is a small gem.

8/10 (A-)
