It is being distributed by Dimension Films, a division of The Weinstein Company. The film is directed by Malcolm D. Lee and written by David Zucker. It is scheduled for theatrical release on April 12, 2013.

Re: Scary Movie 5 I had a lazy day yesterday and saw it.
It's pretty awful -- especially Simon Rex, who's the opposite of Leslie Nielsen's perfect form of underplaying everything -- but there are a couple inspired gags. Parodying BLACK SWAN's editing, a fun punchline to the million pool cleaner shots in PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2, and two clever EVIL DEAD riffs (including a stab at Raimi's crazy cam).
It's not good, but there are moments that remind you this is from the guys who made AIRPLANE!, THE NAKED GUN, and HOT SHOTS, and not the ones who made DATE MOVIE.

Review:
The film is trash. I really don't know why I watched it. But it's the sort of trash that knows it's trash, unlike White House Down and Fast & Furious 6, which think they're somehow cutting edge and awesome.

Re: Scary Movie 5 I thought Scary Movie was ok, but the series went downhill pretty quickly with Scary Movie 2, although the James Woods scene was good. I don't remember seeing the other two. I've not seen them in years, but here's a general idea of a grade:

Remember the time when the first Scary Movie was all sorts of hilarious and, at times, even clever (like featuring that The Usual Suspects ending?!). Yeah, I am starting to forget. The franchise hit a new low with the fifth film and I hope that's the end of it. Anna Faris was sorely missed. She kinda held together the last three films from being all-out terrible. Ashley Tisdale is no replacement.
But what I think bothered me most was how irrelevant the spoofs were. See, the thing with the first Scary Movie was that it spoofed classics. Scream, The Blair Witch Project, The Usual Suspects - you knew that those were films that would be remembered for a long time to come. One of Scary Movie 5's main targets is Mama - a film that did decent box-office, but that the general audiences won't remember at all in ten years. It took irrelevant films and spoofed them, no surprise no one cared.
