2 GUNS

I liked the film. It was mostly entertaining. It tried to find a balance between having a bit of comedy but somewhat serious in tone at the same time. Kind of worked. I liked Marsden in one of many bad guy roles here. Paxton was over the top. Olmos was himself. Hasn't he played this type of part before somewhere in his history? I liked the action sequences. The last bit was over the top in ridiculous. Mexican standoff, cmon now.

One little prop I liked was this gun charm necklace that Wahlberg's character wore. That was cool.

Grade - B

I liked it. It's not one of Denzel's better films but it's pretty fun throughout and Denzel/Mark Wahlberg have good chemistry. And it's pretty funny too, especially Mark Wahlberg's character. I had a good time.

Fun movie, but unfortunately not very memorable. Denzel and Wahlberg had great chemistry, but I thought it was Bill Paxton who really stole the show.

He was AWESOME and it's a shame he isn't in more movies these days.

It is almost spectacular how unspectacular this film is. It is crafted and performed with a certain level of integrity and style and therefore never becomes hard to endure, and is at times even a source of modest amusement and excitement (particularly during its well-shot action sequences, many staged in the desert), but it is in every way satisfied going 65 to 70 percent of the way instead of fighting to turn the dial harder, to distinguish itself a tad more. There are elements here just screaming to be indulged and set free, such as the inspired casting of Bill Paxton as an oily and sadistic CIA operative, but the enterprise always opts for the road most often traveled, as if every line and shot is satisfying a contractual obligation. The result is a highly proficient popcorn-movie product which goes in one ear and directly out the other.

C+

I enjoyed it very much. It's a light, fast-paced, funny action movie and Wahlberg/Washington worked well together. I read today that they're maybe making a sequel to this and I wouldn't mind it.

Chemistry between Denzel and Wahlberg was great but the movie suffers from other characters written poorly, notably Paula Patton and James Marsden.

2 Guns

It was a good, fun, wise-cracking, kinetic, fast-talking, explosive, care-free, buddy cop actioner. Denzel and Mark work well together. It's not especially clever or original, and I'd not care for a sequel, but it was nice entertainment waste away a few hours. Ultimately, it's just cool. What set it apart for me was how Denzel's girl got killed, then the Mexican drug lord got shot twice by the heroes at the end.. nothing was sacred (well, apart from Ebony & Ivory), but it was different than other care-free actioners like RED where everyone survives. It made a small difference to me here.

The supporting turns by Bill Paxton and James Marsden were good, and Paula Patton had a nice cleavage, but not such nice nipples, so they oculd have chosen a sexier double-crossing bitch. The film lacked any depth or a sign of talent behind the camera, and the music was surely just studio stock.

B-

David pretty much nailed it. This film is satisfied with being "good enough", with almost none of the people involved in it putting much effort in the proceedings. The pairing of Wahlberg and Washington could have been really cool, but instead the film's two main highlights are Bill Paxton's slimy villain and Paula Patton stripping down (at last!). The action is generic, the dialogue is generic, the plot is generic, albeit hilariously convulted. Could have been a really badass flick, but is now nothing but a minor blip on the filmographies of everyone involved.

I agree with Lecter's highlights.

It's probably about a B. Not bad!
