Quote:
Goldfinger (1964) is the third spy film in the James Bond series, and the third to star Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. It is based on the novel of the same name by Ian Fleming. The film stars Honor Blackman as Bond girl Pussy Galore and Gert Fröbe as the title character along with Shirley Eaton as famous Bond Girl Jill Masterson. The film was produced by Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, and was the first of four Bond films directed by Guy Hamilton.

The film was the first official Bond blockbuster that made cinematic history by recouping its production costs in record-setting time, despite a budget equal to that of the two preceding films combined. Goldfinger was also the first Bond film to use a pop star to sing the theme song during the titles, a hallmark that would follow for every Bond film except On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Pussy Galore! :hahaha:

It's an excellent Bond adventure, and superior to the book, which it changed some key points.

A+

Fantastic movie. It has the best line in a bond movie.

Bond: Do you expect me to talk?
Goldfinger: I expect you to die.

A+

It's the ultimate Bond film, and the film that people most remember out of the 21 films, but it's not my favorite Bond film. It's in my top five though.

A+

Definitely the best of the '60s Bonds, and probably the most recognizable of all of them. It combines everything that makes the franchise iconic, from the great performance by Connery to the crazed villain and his even crazier plot, from the innovative gadgets to the endless numbers of Bond girls. It's always fun to watch, even if it is pretty dated.

Of the Connery Bond films I've only seen this, Dr. No, and Thunderball, but it's the best. It's a lot of fun. My grade: A-.

From Russia with Love has it beat as an overall film, but Goldfinger has the prior film beat when it comes to the Bond formula. Goldfinger set the standard for Bond villains to come. Oddjob remains the series best henchman. And what would we do without Pussy Galore? Talk about leading the way to other names like Holly Goodhead and Xenia Onatopp. Then there's the car. Not only is it a thing of beauty, but the gadgets within the car hold up just as well today as they did 44 years ago.

There's not much else you can say that hasn't already been said. It remains one of the best in the long running series.

Goldfinger is the iconic Bond film in name, even if Thunderball as a story and its scenes are more classic Bond in my opinion. Goldfinger thus remains good, but overrated.

If you want a thriller that has the spirit of the Fleming novels, watch From Russia with Love. If you want a James Bond movie, Goldfinger is the film for you. This is the film that would set the tone for the rest of the series, and one might say even was the wrench in the gears for some of the films that followed that tried to live up to this (Thunderball/You Only Live Twice).

Goldfinger is just fantastic entertainment. Connery is at the top of his game, we've got the iconic villains, the girls, the gadgets, the Aston Martin, etc. What I noticed this time around though is how well paced this film is. It's 110 minutes long, one of the shorter Bond's, but it packs the most punch into it's running time. The film is just end to end fun, hardly allowing it's audience to breathe. Something is always happening.

The film has a couple of missteps towards the end - Bond's cock is apparently magic. If he didn't give Pussy a good fucking she wouldn't have betrayed Goldfinger, leaving Bond and everyone dead - but who cares if its fun and well done?

***** (A+)

1. Goldfinger - ***** (A+)
2. From Russia with Love - ****½ (A)
3. Dr. No - *** (B)

Thunderball is good because of the more cooler locations and storyline and the Bond girls are pretty nice...

However Goldfinger is the film that defines Bond for close to 50 years now...

I finally watched this film fully recently and the film it self is very entertaining and the villian Oddjob and Goldfinger are iconic villians. The storyline is cool with the whole plan about Fort Knox and you have one of the most famous bond girls ever...

Also great scene with the girl painted in Gold and the classic laser scene with Bond...

This film just pretty much defines what Bond is.

Thunderbirds.....hooooooo!

NOTE: It is pronounced hoo, like an owl, not hoe, like a whore, we don't want to be mixing it up with Thundercats now.
