 Re: Men in Black III
Overall pretty enjoyable and much better than the 2nd. Josh Brolin was actually awesome, him and Smith had some really great chemistry. They hold together the film's very by the numbers plot. You can see why they put Jones on the side. His fire seems to be dwindling on him and he just looks miserable (And not in the fun way he use to play it) Though he still had some moments. Smith is actually much better in this than the trailers would lead you to believe, probably the best he's been in the franchise. He's pretty funny and is the dependable presence you'd expect from him. The villain and action are good if unspectacular. And the ending is touching and seems to be a nice way to end the franchise. Though I think it could have been even better I was thinking Smith was going to die in the past which would have explained Jone's surlier then normal act even more and could have made for a very touching ending, but after all this is popcorn entertainment B+ I really liked Brolin, even to the point I'd like a spinoff. 60s MIB seems like there could be a lot of potential and the early models of the Neuralyzer are some of the best gags in the film.

I really, really liked it. Thought it had great action scenes, good acting, and a great emotional ending. Had me choked up.

 Re: Men in Black III
Brolin and Smith work well off each other but this was awful. Not MIB2 awful but still awful. The film seemed like it was written for 5-year-olds even though the movie is PG-13! There were plenty of cringeworthy scenes including O's alien speech which may be one of the worst scenes I have seen in a film this year. Also, the effects are horrible and Griffith was a horrible addition. *

I enjoyed Michael Stuhlbarg's character. I found the baseball scene effective and touching.

 Re: Men in Black III
Yeah, jmovies has no idea what he's talking about. This is the sequel that we should've got ten years ago. I think what surprised me most is how much of a heart this film has. It could've easily have gone the cynical cop-out route that "II" went, but the casting of Stuhlbarg and Brolin were really inspired. The scenes at Shea Stadium and on the beach at the end were really well done. The only thing I could've done without was Will Smith's "Pimp slappin' the shiznit." I don't think I've ever hated him more then when he said that. ***½ (B+)

Much better than MIB2. It's quite lax and it never really fires on all cylinders, but it's enjoyable and even a little bit sweet. Liked the 'revelation' quite a bit, even though it's a pretty huge goof in regards to the first MIB. So much for, "You probably weren't even alive in '68," huh?

Theres gaping holes throughout, the one that got me the most was No K, then J is never recruited, hence never even a part of MIB. I think they missed a major/ interesting route they could have done. Like Smith wakes up married and has two kids, etc, has to decide what life he wants more. Or at least, him having to sneak into MIB and explain to O what has happened to convince her. A little more thought into the Time Travel could have really made this a truly awesome sequel.

You can't do too much on it though. There will always be holes with time travel plots. I think they did as much as they should have.

 Re: Men in Black III
True, but it is also probably the safest time travel. Even Hot Tub Time Machine addressed more. I'm not bashing the film. It is admiring to see a time travel keep it simple, but it could have really been something special along with entertaining.

 Re: Men in Black III
To be fair, I believe there is a super-halfhearted, super-thin explanation as to why J remembers K (and his life remains unchanged). Doesn't the nerdy, bearded time-travel expert say, "Wait, you remember your partner! This means...this means you were there!" Suggesting J's inevitable role in helping K stop Boris during the launch has created a cosmic connection between them which can't be erased. Which is fairly idiotic, granted, and no doubt creates endless other conundrums. Also: Emma Thompson was ten years old in 1969, lol. The actress playing Emma Thompson's character in the sixties scenes, Alice Eve, is 30. This is almost a perfect encapsulation of how Hollywood regards aging women. Once an actress turns 45, she might as well be as old as Tommy Lee Jones.

The only time travel movie that I couldn't find a plot hole with was Time Crimes. Seriously, that was like mathematical perfection (but also made the film more boring.

Pretty flimsy and not especially memorable, but Men in Black III is a decided improvement over its predecessor. B-

 Re: Men in Black III
It's fun, genuinely heartfelt, and certainly leagues better than the soulless second part. And that's all I really wanted.
