 Re: The Heat
Absolutely hysterical. Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in particular are both fantastic and play brilliantly off one another. The film works so well because of them. The film actually ends up being pretty touching as well - there were quite a few "awws" at the end. This is going to be a huge hit. I definitely want to see it again. A-

I've seen this today, but had to sign an embargo until mid-June.
Anyway, this will be SO BIG at the box-office.

I was dying with laughter at some points - the entire audience was loving it and I'm pretty sure there were some jokes I missed because I was laughing so hard. I definitely want a sequel ASAP.

 Re: The Heat
If this is half as funny as Bridesmaids it will be the funniest movie of the year.

 Re: The Heat
It's not as original as Bridesmaids but it may still be as funny. There are some VERY memorable setpieces and Bullock and McCarthy obviously work great together. I also want a sequel.

 Re: The Heat
I saw this last week and yeah, it was hysterical. Sure it was by the numbers and not as GREAT as Bridesmaids, but it was a damn hysterical movie. Bullock and McCarthy were GREAT together.
I will say though, I'm glad I never saw the red band trailer, it gave away A LOT of the funniest moments of the movie.
BRING SEQUEL NOW, K THANX.
8/10

 Re: The Heat
I have no time to write long English-language reviews anymore At least not for now. I'd grade it a B-, but it will be a huge crowd pleaser. I am just not a fan of McCarthy and her brand of humor, but this was entertaining enough to keep me interestedb throughout. It actually works nicely as an action comedy, not just a comedy.

 Re: The Heat
I thought the scene in Denny's was a little too much and kinda didn't have a payoff other than a 'WTF...' But I guess I'll just forget about that scene 'cause the ending scene with the cat was the biggest laugh I had for the film.
I really enjoyed it, lots of laughs. As good as Bridesmaids? Nah. Bullock and McCarthy work well together though, and even though I really didn't like her in Identity Thief this movie definitely uses McCarthy to the best of her abilities. She's hilarious here. Even though the main characters aren't that well developed the ending was sweet.

Loved this. Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy have sooo much chemistry. I demand another movie with the two of them if there's not already a sequel to this. A-

It works because of McCarthy and Bullock. Not much else is worth mentioning though. (B)

 Re: The Heat
Hysterical! McCarthy and Bullock are awesome together. McCarthy's comedic abilities are on full-display here. It's nice to see them fully utilized. She's a riot. Easily the best comedy I've seen so far this year. Really delivers on the laughs. Bring on the sequel.

 Re: The Heat
so I'm feeling very conflicted about The Heat. Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy have terrific chemistry in this riff on the buddy cop formula. In a summer full of movies that marginalize or flat out ignore women, it's incredibly refreshing to watch these two go through one comedic set piece after another. What's more, a lack of romantic sub-plots and fat jokes keeps The Heat laser focused on these two badass women in a way that almost feels trangressive. Sure the 'plot' is mostly an excuse for jokes and profane dialogue. Paul Feig who previously directed Bridesmaids excels at drawing out scenes just long enough to make a funny moment hysterical. No my problem with the film more stems from my increasing discomfort in buddy cop movies where a lot of the humor is based around cops humiliating, harassing, or downright brutalizing people (and most frequently people of color). Like last year's 21 Jump Street, the uproarious humor is problematized by uncomfortable moments where two white police officers do terrible things that should probably result in them each losing their badge. Sure it's refreshing that the cops are both women, but that doesn't make me more comfortable watching them throw young black men off a building. It's almost like an inverse of Yeezus - trangressive and provocative and undeniably talented in making the sort of art it intends to, but in the process perpetuating violence against another disadvantaged group of people. Where Kanye's revolutionary songs are still laced with toxic mysognistic lyrics, The Heat has two tremendously funny female leads whose problems and virtues are based on their characters, not their gender... And yet they're stuck in a cop movie from the 1980s.

 Re: The Heat
It was a simple plot that has been done many times before, but it is so absolutely hysterical. I REALLY hope there is a sequel. The best parts are McCarthy's first scene, the bar scene and everything after Bullock gets stabbed.

 Re: The Heat
Anyone else find it random that the glass scene was different from all of the trailers. I hate when films highlight a joke so much, than feel the need to do an alternate take in the actual film. I loved the albino jokes (especially showing the scene from Foul Play)
The bar scene/ club scenes were great (The vomit, airplane scene of Bridesmaids great) the rest was overall funny too. I didn't really by chemistry between leads (They were good foils though) and their turn to friendship was a little hard to swallow, but it was doing a genre that already has been done to death. I liked it more than The Other Guys though.

I hated that the changed they glass breaking scene. The version in the ads was funnier. Quote: It's not the albino. Now I feel bad. The end credits scene was so funny.

 Re: The Heat
THE HEAT
This is really nice comedy. I don't think it's the funniest one I've seen this year. That belongs to This is the End but I think this comedy is more rewatchable thus may be more enjoyable as time goes on. Melissa McCarthy is the female comedian right now and she nails it again. Her role is funny and you can really this cop being that way though talking to her boss that way is over the top. Her chemistry with Bullock is great. They play off each other perfectly and it just works. It makes the film. Bullock is fantastic. I liked the plot and unlike Identity Thief which got weird with the drug dealers and bounty hunter the violence works in this film. I think some of the other roles like Wayans and Bechir could have been done by anyone so why have a big name in those types of roles idk. Anyway, it's a really funny comedy and was a pleasure to watch. I think I'll be adding this to my collection.
