Real Steel
Real SteelQuote: Real Steel is a 2011 American science fiction action film starring Hugh Jackman and directed by Shawn Levy. The film is based in part on the 1956 short story "Steel" by Richard Matheson, though screenwriter John Gatins placed the film in U.S. state fairs and other "old-fashioned" Americana settings. Real Steel was in development for several years before production began on June 11, 2010. Filming took place primarily in the U.S. state of Michigan. Animatronic robots were built for the film, and motion capture technology was used to depict the brawling of computer-generated robots and animatronics. Real Steel was publicly released in Australia on October 6, 2011, and in the United States and Canada on October 7, 2011, to mixed reviews. It was released in both conventional and IMAX theaters.

Re: Real Steel
It was great. It's mostly a father-son story.

Re: Real Steel
I dug this, actually. It's clichéd as hell, and basically just re-tells Rocky with robots, but it proves the formula still works.

I didn't really know what to expect but I thought this was really bad. This shouldn't have been bad- it's hard to make a bad boxing movie- but the screenplay, my god. I wanted to punch the kid in the face.

Re: Real Steel
A very generic movie as we have seen this storyline over and over again in the Rocky films.
However, we all know the Rocky films were all big hits (well apart from Rocky V) and are films that are well liked.
This was pretty much the same style storyline and its very pleasing and entertaining. The big flaw was they want to fast to the final fight, however the ending fight as in the Rocky films are a lot of fun to watch.
Hope they make some more of these kinds of films.
B+

Re: Real Steel
Real Steel is a strictly by the numbers underdog sports movie, but it's quite well done (and of course, Hugh Jackman elevates anything he's in).
One thing that bothered me was the set-up for Jackman's characters incompetence at the beginning - - the bull fight, where he is waving to the girls mid bull charge, and the first robot fight, where he's looking up the commands mid fight - - it just seemed too darn stupid even for a supposed loser like him, and it put me off for the first part of the movie.
4 out of 5.
