Good news, might check out as a walk in next weekend. After liking her in Man on Fire, I want to see how she is in this. Plus I like the supporting cast especially David Morse, Kris K, Elizabeth Shue and Kurt Russell is usually OK. Plus I like sports movie and the shots of the scenery is supposely pretty good.

And the critics RT # raised from an early 40 to a respectable 64

RT Score = 64%

Reviews counted: 91

Average Rating: 6.2/10

They don't make 'em like this anymore!

Errrr... wait, I guess they do!

A solid horsey movie with current childstar Dakota Fanning squaring off against former childstar Kurt Russell - they're both excellent of course. They are surrounded by heaps of quality supporting actors, making this a beautiful story of redemption in the tried and true sports underdog genre (with The Greatest Game Ever Played earlier this month, and now Dreamer, that makes two in a row!).

Hooray for good movies!

4 out of 5.

B-

This movie is as generic as it gets. An underdog horse racing movie which has a family relations subplot with redemption, forgiving and new chances built into it. Oh and of course it's based on a true story. The bad guy played by David Morse is terribly one-dimensional and simply mean and the course of the storyis as predictable as it gets in the genre. So why a decent grade?

The actors make this film. Kurt Russell, Kris Kristofferson and Dakota Fanninf all have very good dynamics with each other and its their inspired play that makes the movie a decent watch. Moreover, the racing scenes are filmed pretty well (and those were arranged by the same guys that made the racing scenes in Seabiscuit) and the whole story is quite heartwarming. If it had only not been so clichéd and some characters so one-note...

What a lovely film. Kurt Russell plays father brilliantly well and Dakota Fanning is also a pleasure to watch. I loved how similar Kris Kristofferson and Kurt Russell looked, like a real father-son similarity. The film might be cliche and formulaic, but it works anyway, and I founf every moment of triumph thoroughly pleasing. To be honest, I could watch Kurt in anything, and I don't think he's made a bad film yet. Oh, and David Morse makes a solid appearance as a nasty horse owner. Elisabeth Shue, however, is wasted to a mere background wife role.
