Quote:
Wild Things is a 1998 erotic thriller film starring Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell, Kevin Bacon, Denise Richards, Theresa Russell and Bill Murray. It was directed by John McNaughton. In some countries the film was released as Sex Crimes. An uncut version of the movie, adding seven minutes to its runtime, was released on DVD in 2004. The movie gained notoriety for featuring several sex scenes - in particular, one involving a man and two women simultaneously - that were more explicit than is typically seen in mainstream, big-budget Hollywood movies. It spawned several direct-to-DVD sequels.

The film has a MPAA rating of R for strong sexuality, nudity, language and violence. Times guidelines refer to a strong menage a trois scene (involving Dillon, Campbell and Richards, who is in the nude) and some passionate girl-girl kissing (Campbell and Richards, both of whom are topless). There is also incidental male frontal nudity (Bacon).

Wild Things is an interesting movie. The story, at first, seems a bit weak, but after a little while, it becomes really complicated, and by the end, there's about 100 twists revealed in total. In some ways, it made the movie more entertaining to watch, but at the same time, kind of stupid. I liked the ending, but it wasn't too shocking like they tried to make it. Needless to say, I enjoyed the movie. Who knows? Maybe that's my teenage hormones talking with all the shots of my future wife, Miss Denise Richards, naked (as in, without clothes!)... =P~

Anyways, I liked Wild Things. It's a fun little movie, though kind of cheesy and stupid. B-

*watches certain scenes again* :pop:

I liked it quite a lot. The makeout scene with Neve and Denise is definitely one of the hottest kissing scenes I have ever seen in any movie. They are both very hot too. The story is really good, and I liked the courtroom scene alot, that was hysterical. The twists and turns make the movie a lot more interesting, and I really liked the ending a lot. It's kind of cheesy and corny, but in a good harmless way. It's a good movie. I recently saw this in the $5 dollar bargain bin at Wal-Mart. I don't know what I was thinking by not getting it. Maybe I will next time.

B

P.S. Why most Kevin Bacon always show off his penis? It's not like it is massive or anything, its quite little in size. It is certainly nothing to brag about. It's just irritating, first this, then Hollow Man, and I'm sure he has shown it in countless other films.

I thought it was actually really interesting. It's not the soft core porno everyone makes it out to be either. :???:

There's only like two scenes that have nudity in it. It wasn't really that big of a deal. There's actually more scenes though that were cut out and landed on the internet. You should *cough* check those out. 8-[

Yeah, I don't get it either, the big lesbian scene is really short.

7/10 (B)

I admired Basic Instinct for being sexy. Every nude scene that was in that film was done so to further the plot, deepen a character or play with someone's mind. I enjoyed it for those reasons. Wild Things has none of that. When there is nudity or sexy scenes in here it has nothing to do with furthering the plot, it was gratuitous nudity. It was to get men into the audience and holler at the gorgeous women on screen. And I loved it for that. There are not that many movies that dare to stoop to that level to sell tickets anymore. Wild Things does and makes no apologies for it.

There are so many plot twists in here that when you are not watching Denise Richards get wet and get into a menage a trois, you are engaged by the story. And it never stops moving. It always has something new that you are shocked at just when you think there is nothing more to figure out. Especially entertaining in this film is Bill Murray as a sleazy attorney and his secretary. She had me in stitches at times. Especially bad is Theresa Russell. I have never thought of her as a good actress and I think she got by on nepotism for her whole career. Here she whines and has no idea how to play her part. I really can't believe that they didn't try to replace her with another actress. But if you can stomach her for the brief time that she is on screen then you should enjoy the rest of this film.

The very end of the film was a shocker to me. Don't turn the VCR off until the credits have completely stopped rolling. Here you will see some of the best stuff in the film and it will explain to you alot of what it is that you need to know.

Wild Things is a great film, more so for guys for obvious reasons but even for women who like a good story, this will please you as well.

It's not often that a film will blatantly use sex to sell their film, it seems like the glory days of the 80's are gone. But this restores my faith in pointless nudity, and if you like this sort of thing, then you will really enjoy this film.

I thought it was decent. I like it when movies turn on their heads, but only so many time. The twists here began to seem a bit random after awhile. Who's with who. And it made me lose interest by the end. Nice to see goth Campbell get away with it, and some of the scenes had great tension, but director's need to leave good clues, and stop with the uber-random "I'm not on your side I'm on her side, no I'm not I'm on my side, actually I'm with you again," type movies. Tension in style held it together long after it could have otherwise fallen apart though.

This movie became (in)famous for its threesome scene and the other similar content, but there is really more to it than that. I think it delivered quite a bit on the level of story. I agree, there are a bit too many twists, but after the second viewing I could enjoy them pretty much. A well-written screenplay.

I really enjoyed Wild Things, mostly for the Miamian tension and twists. It's a good popcorn suspense flick.

Clunky, ridiculous and somewhat entertaining.

Nearly every single person in the film delivers an embarassing performance, especially Kevin Bacon and the woman who played Denise Richards' mom.

Bill Murray seems to be the only one "in on the joke."

The art of trash. This is what you can do with the bottom of the barrel. It's almost like the '90s version of Sirk's melodramas, or the seedy noirs of the '40s. The ludicrous twists and horrendous acting are purposeful and intentional, as they highlight the ridiculousness of so much neo-noir and mock it endlessly. Everything in this film - from the threesome, to the lesbian make-out, to Kevin Bacon's cock, to Neve Campbell's incredible IQ, to Bill Murray's entire character - is over-the-top and (some would say) terrible, but it has a purpose. It's a lot smarter than its glossy exterior would indicate, much like Campbell's character.

This is not high-art, it's low-art. There can be both, you know!
