Re: Easy A
6/10 -> C
It does have some good sporadic laughs, but overall it's a bit too safe of a movie considering the plot and it rehashes too much of college comedy genre. I was left a bit disappointed considering the great response this movie got.

Re: Easy A
Not in a long time have I been so very disappointed. I'm not sure I even smiled more than once or twice, and it's solely because of Emma Stone. She's way above this. Most of the actors are, but especially Emma Stone. The fact that this movie made almost $60 million domestic has to be for her and for her only.
But congratulations to Emma for the Golden Globe nod, even if it's a useless award. She makes it watchable. Without her, it would be awful. It's a teen movie for the Twilight crowd.

I dunno what movie the three posters above Libs watched, but I thought this was a blast.
Sure, Emma Stone made this film...but she really really did it well.

jesus, i cant see this being any better than fockers What do you like? um, this just wasn't that funny. besides, who in their right mind would allow a rumor that they have CHLAMYDIA to spread? i just had a problem with the whole premise though. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=55365&p=1650148#p1650148i've liked a fair number of movies. loved 127 hours, toy story 3, true grit etc

Re: Easy A
you're a dick
in any case, libs, the premise here is ridiculous. she has so many chances to fix things. first, she has an opportunity to fess up to bree (or ree?) that she never had sex with the community college guy...early in the movie when they're still friends. she doesn't. then, she has the chance to walk away from the fat dude. she doesn't. she has a chance to turn down those offers for 20% off a bath and body works soap. she doesn't. she has a chance at the guidance counselor's office, but she doesn't muster the words, even though she starts to. there's a couple instances when people ask her what's on her mind and she doesn't talk.
it's just very frustrating to watch...
when she finally comes clean and tells the prof that she's not actually a slut and his wife is, we don't even see the resolution!
what works abt clueless and mean girls is that while they're over the top and isolated, they capture a teenagers' mindset and anxieties well. i was a teenager once and i don't resonate with anything in this movie.
besides, wearing an "a" for adulterer on your chest is truly retarded.

Re: Easy A
I don't care what people here are saying about this movie, it's great. I saw it in theaters once and downloaded a copy about a month ago and watched that version four times and just bought it on Blu-Ray and have watched it twice. I'm putting it on my top 10 of the year. It's great and Emma Stone is fantastic.

Re: Easy A
I will watch and like just about anything. I'm far from a film snob. Actually everything about Easy A was well inside what I would consider fun, easy-watching fare. But then I watched it, and it was too much. It's like someone watched Juno and said "Man, that dialogue was snappy! But it was only that Page chick that was super clever. Let's make a movie where everything EVERYONE says is super clever!"
Like I said before, it's a teen movie for the Twilight crowd.
Also, I don't like agreeing with yoshue on movies. I can only imagine how he feels about it. No yoshue, take the gun out of your mouth!!

(I consider this one of my reference films (a movie by which I judge other reviewers' strength of character) - - anyone in this thread who gave Easy A a high grade has suspect taste in my book.)

Libs wrote: THE BACK-UP PLAN. lol. I see every chick flick and I didn't even see that. Excellent way to form an opinion. BTW, I had no need to use Easy A as a reference film for Libs - - it's common knowledge that her opinion on film blows with the wind. My own opinion on film certainly seems to diverge from the majority of people here at KJ, but it is my own. Libs is a card carrying member of the Flock of Parrots school of film reviewing. Read all the reviews, then ( optional... see above) watch the movie, then double check what Rotten Tomatoes is telling people to think, then "write" a review. Libs slavish devotion to groupthink sickens me.

I'm all about the GROUPTHINK baby
Not that I need to explain myself to you or anyone, but I also happen to have my own opinions. I wouldn't even care that you think Little Fockers and The Back-Up Plan are modern masterpieces. Go ahead and feel that way.
But the fact is that, for years, you have been the most despicable and obnoxious individual on this forum when it comes to film. You try to rub everyone's face in just how BRILLIANT and SUBVERSIVE you are because some movie starring J. Lo's ass is multi-dimensionally SO UTTERLY FANTASTIC that you're the only person on the planet with the capability to recognize it.
But I actually love you because you suck so, so much. Like, you're horrendous. Through and through. But someone needs to be. If that makes sense.

Re: Easy A
Agree with X and torrino about the dialog. Combined with the fact that the movie's about a 17 year old attractive girl becoming a school news outbreak for having sex, they clearly did a complete whiff on making it relateable to real life. Which would be fine, that's not essential, except it seems like they wanted it to be. Anyways, mediocore movie

Stanley Tucci and the mom are hilarious.
The rest of the movie is pretty solid. It is quite ridiculous but it's funny.
