But Prime seems to change the meaning of "one" in every confrontation! And Megatron got away!

The only possible way I can see Transformers 3 working is if Megatron all of the sudden goes political and goes to Iran/North Korea and offers them a deal if they'll help him take Earth's Energon meanwhile setting up this psuedo odd situation where the Autobots just can't go attack them, they have to wait for the Decepticons to come out of the countries...

...and behind the scenes the Decepticons are undermining the US relationship with the Autobots further, leading to an eventual global thermo-nuclear stand off... maybe the Seekers hold the knowledge to prevent this crisis.

Did I just outthink the series? Okay how about this:

...the space star-fragment could land and Optimus and Bumblebee must get to it to save Sam before Megatron can launch a missile that will bring the Moon crashing to Earth unless they can stop him in time!

Don't worry about a sequel, the writers will come up with another bullshit story how the Transformers were here one million years ago and fought dinosaurs but they left a machine here that turns fossils into some sort of a fuel for them (get it, its topical) and then Even Steven and the girl who is dead behind the eyes will spend the entire movie chasing something until....
or
they will use Unicorn and if so they better use Orson Welles or I am going to get medievel up in this bitch.

What to add that hasn't already been said, it's loud, noisy, silly, cheesy, overlong. Admittedly, some scenes worked and i loughed a couple of times. Surprisingly, as much as i hated Turturro in the first one i liked him here but all in all, the sequel is a step down from the original. 6/10

Are you being sarcastic? ;) because you essentially just described the plot of Beast Wars. And if they did that, at least there would be synergy with a pre-existing TF story line ;)

People are trying to be snobbish, what's new here?

Some genuinely don't like/hate the movie. Others here are such blatant followers.

Overall I find it slightly better than the first one. The first one is funnier, with a more coherent story and still owns the best scene in the series (the backyard scene with Shia's parents lecturing about sex and Autobots hiding). But this one flew by much faster and the action was much better this time around, mostly because the scenes were cleared and it was easy to see who was fighting who.

That being said, there's a plethora of characters that should've been cut or not returned (Tyrese's and Josh's characters are completely redundant).

Also, Optimus Prime's narration is awful. His lines during the fights are awful too. The person who thought of those should be shot.

It's an OKish blockbuster. I had pretty low expectations (especially because I don't have very high opinion about the first movie). Maybe that helped a bit.

I'm downgrading this to 6/10 -> C (now, if I could only change my vote). It just doesn't feel right to give it what I gave it. Also this must be the first time I changed my grade without a second viewing in more than two years.

I just finished watching it in IMAX. Michael Bay has finally gone out and done it. He made a boring piece of shit, and this is coming from someone who enjoyed all of his other films. I saw this on one of the biggest screen imaginable with one of the best sound systems known to man, and yet I didn't find it to be in anyway enjoyable. This is a joyless movie, and that's the biggest difference from the first film. Part one knew it was absurd and had fun with it blowing everything to smitherines along the way. The sequel on the other hand takes itself way too seriously, and doesn't really decide to blow anything up until the final 45 minutes. All the explosions that came before would've been decent in any other film, but not in the sequel to Transformers and certainly not in a Michael Bay film. Dare I say the film is even boring? It's 150 minutes long and most of it outside of the final act felt like talk, and when you can't tell what the hell is going on that's kind of a problem.

And what was with the jive talking robots, the robot chick (who looks made of metal to begin with) and the roomate? Whoever thought those were good ideas shouldn't be involved with the third. At least Meagan Fox was nice to look at. And what a heartless bastard Sam is. It took him two robot wars and two years to say I love you?

Oh and good use of that Green Day song. They just spent all that time glorifying violence (which I have nothing against) and they end the film with an anti-war song? What the f?

Actually was not that bad. Silly, stupid, illogical, but still entertains a bit.

Was also a bit surprised by brutality of some fight scenes, specifically of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.

Yeah it wasnt that bad. I enjoyed the first one, this wasnt as good but not nearly as bad as its made out to be here. Its too long though. The effects were good, though perhaps not as iconic as the first one.

Just a horrible movie on every level. The characters were very unlikable and the plot was boring and nonsensical. It was unintentionally amusing at first with how they kept trying to pose Megan Fox in all these unnaturally overly sexual ways (like her painting her motorcyle...), and how every girl in college was a supermodel who wanted to screw Shia.

But, unfortunately even the unintentional humor wore off quickly and the rest of the movie was a grind to get through. I generally can switch my brain off and get some enjoyment out of these big budget popcorn flicks, but this was really painful. If it weren't for the slightly worse Bride Wars, this would easily be my worst movie of 2009.

I'm having trouble grasping how this made $400 million.

I've never been a Bay apologist. I think his movies are pretty fuckin awesome. The Rock, on my all-time top movies list. The Island, one of the best sci-fi films of the last 20 years.

But Transformers 2 is all noise and blur. It's without a point or purpose, meandering from scene to scene. And even if it exists solely for summer spectacle, it fails at that too.

I'm all for big dumb fun movies, I love them. But Transformers 2 is something completely different.

I found this review interesting:

http://io9.com/5301898/michael-bay-fina ... -art-movie

I almost loved that review as much as I loved watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen! Either you get on board this loopy ride or you don't, but I'm all about Michael Bay making a summation of his work in the form of a sequel to a movie based on toys. What Michael Bay only has one plot? What Michael Bay movie doesn't have people managing to outrun explosions? What Michael Bay movie has ever run under two hours? (The answer is Bad Boys alone. To be fair, Revenge of the Fallen is longer than most of his repertoire. It's just as long as Armageddon, and 33 minutes shorter than Pearl Harbor.) His humor is consistently tasteless, albeit ratcheted up into Borat-like satire when he makes a sequel. He's a damn proud conservative, with governments that consistently lie to the public and soldiers so noble they make most men crumble. He likes having large casts that run the gamut of stoicism. If you take any part of Transformers 2 seriously, I can see why you'd be jones'd about the blatant disregard towards coherence and plot.

I just love the way he blows shit up, and happen to think there's more than meets the eye to this supposedly retardedly dumb sequel.

I never read it before, but upon stumbling on it now I love this review. It's hilarious, creative, insightful, unimpeded by standards of review, and extremely well written. It's so clever and convincing I almost believed some of it, but the problem is while most of these observations are plausible and interesting, I'm absolutely convinced Bay had no idea of any of it. He did not create any of this with the intention of redefining the perception of plot and story. It is such a ridiculous loose structure because he DOESN'T KNOW HOW to tell a story.

All of the points moviedude makes (blow shit up, conservative value propaganda, preposterously heroic soldiers) are reasons I FUCKING HATE Michael Bay.

After watching Transformers four years ago, I remember liking what I saw, never loving much of it. It was fun but meant to be forgotten.

Transformers 2 makes sure, through sheer noise level alone, that you don't forget it. And that's not a bad thing. That's an awful thing. One of the worst, most disappointing movies I've ever seen. No redeeming qualities. I know most summer blockbusters are, but this is the most glaringly obvious film made with only the almighty dollar in mind.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

It is a serious step down from the first in terms of the overall awesomeness of the final product. The comedy doesn't work this time. Sam's mother eating drugged cookies (the parents were still funny, but less so than the first), the forced humour of the talking black-robot-duo is annoying, the old Decepticon that changed sides (but ultimately ends up winning it for the Autobots) is also rather annoying, and the detour with John Turturro kills any momentum the film had (and he also isn't funny). The film simply goes on too long. The story is fine; it is easy and simple to follow, and the action is good for the first half (up to and including the forest fight), but that's where things take a turn, and Optimus Prime's "death" doesn't feel as important as it should be. The final battle in the desert lingers on and on and isn't all that exciting either, but it is semi-forgiven because of the final fight between Optimus and The Fallen, which is kind of cool.

I'm glad to have watched it again because I did not realise on first viewing that "The Fallen" was another Decepticon. I thought it meant Megatron and his crew from the first were "the fallen ones", and thus were intent on revenge, which I guess they kind of were as well. But I didn't really like this whole apprentice/master thing with Megatron and The Fallen. Its dynamic feels like Star Wars. Megatron should be the meanest, baddest Decepticon of the bunch, but here he is relegated to a henchman.

But anyway, Megan Fox is still hot - probably the hottest she has ever looked (that white dress - Jesus Christ!!!), though her acting has gotten worse (she is porn-ing up her performance here, which I admit is welcome). All-in-all, this films gets a worse rap than it deserves, but it's also not a good film by any means. While Tyrese Gibson is bearable in these movies, it is a good thing that we see less of him in this one, so...
