Quote:
The Magnificent Seven is a 1960 American western film directed by John Sturges about a group of hired gunmen protecting a Mexican village from bandits.

It is a remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1954 film, Seven Samurai.

The film is nothing compared to the seven samurai as the story is rather crappy.

The anti-hero is too crazy and Mr.Cool is not there either. Yul Burner and McQueen save the film and make it a lot of fun. Then you have one of the best scores of all time and it really sets the film apart from the rest.

This is a entertainment and mindless fun, nothing compared to the Sergio Leone films but the film was lots of fun...

B+

I agree that this pales in relation to SS but it is fun and good in it's own right > I agree with your B+.

But first the Oscar nominated music is unbelievable > Elmer Bernstein

and then all of the cast members minus maybe 1 or 2 are outstanding and make this such a fun movie. Think Charles Bronson especially rises with some nice scenes & speeches.

Director:John Sturges
Cast (Cast overview, first billed only) > from IMDB.
Yul Brynner ... Chris Adams
Eli Wallach ... Calvera
Steve McQueen ... Vin
Charles Bronson ... Bernardo O'Reilly
Robert Vaughn ... Lee
Brad Dexter ... Harry Luck
James Coburn ... Britt
Horst Buchholz ... Chico

In the Original film the anti-hero or the fake rebellious samurai was much better and in this film he is some crazy young guy who acted badly. Also the very skilled man was nowhere as cool as the guy in the original film.

It's nothing but a very poor remake.

Disagree on Poor as poor is between a C and D and this movie is better than a C. I think it is in the B range.

Just watched this again. And it is funny I was going to make the same comment. McQueen, Brenner, and the Music are always talked about. But it is easy to see here how dominant an actor Charles Bronson was.
